About this file

This document contains questions and answers regarding solicitation HQ072723R0013 for the mitigation of large-scale obsolescence of MIL-PRF-19500 certified components. The solicitation, issued by the Defense Microelectronics Activity, seeks proposals to address discontinuance of manufacture for qualified microelectronic products certified under MIL-PRF-19500. Specifically, proposers are asked to provide a list of all affected devices as well as the portion of qualified parts that would be mitigated by their proposed solution. However, the questions and answers clarify that the Defense Microelectronics Activity does not itself maintain a list of obsolescent MIL-PRF-19500 devices, and that such information may be available from the qualifying activity, the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime VQE. Proposers are directed to present obsolescence mitigation impact information relevant to assessing their proposal.

Questions and Answers from the Government’s Request for Quotation

Solicitation HQ072723R0013

Note: All questions have been revised to be made anonymous and in the form on the question. Our intent is to provide the most honest and accurate answers as possible regarding the facts and the Government’s intent. With that being, said should any conflict arise between this document and the solicitation, the solicitation prevails/overrules. We hope you find this helpful.

1. Please provide a list of MIL-PRF-19500 devices that face obsolescence that we can review and offer alternatives?

DMEA does not have a list of MIL-PRF-19500 devices that face obsolescence for the purpose of becoming an alternate supplier. This information might be available from the qualifying activity (Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime – VQE) who receives all notifications of any Discontinuance of Manufacture of Qualified Product.

2. There are many MIL-PRF-19500 slash sheets with many applications, how should we present this information to DMEA.

This information requested is specifically to assess the impact of your proposal. If possible, please send the list of all devices the proposed mitigation will affect as well as a statement as to what portion of qualified parts this represents (ie. 75% of qualified parts will be mitigated with this proposal).
