2.0 Background
The Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA) is a civilian Defense Agency within the Department of
Defense charged with protecting and safeguarding the occupants, visitors, and infrastructure of the Pentagon and other assigned facilities throughout the National Capitol Region (NCR) and Raven Rock Mountain
Complex (RRMC). Over the past five years, PFPA has made multiple upgrades to most of the barriers, gates, gate arms, and other VACP-associated systems while, in some cases, continuing to utilize legacy equipment in various locations. As an ongoing process, PFPA has been working to upgrade all VACPs on the Pentagon reservation, the NCR, and RRMC. This process allows for more consistent and standardized equipment applications throughout the VACP systems. PFPA currently maintains and supports multiple types of Vehicle
Arrest Barrier Systems (VABS) as well as equipment from multiple vendors throughout the NCR. These systems are constantly being upgraded and replaced through the process of renovation or life-cycle replacement. The purpose of this contract vehicle is to establish a single BPA for the preventative maintenance routine and emergency repairs on an as-needed basis.
