About this file

This document is a vendor registration guide for the State of Illinois' BidBuy procurement system, specifically detailing the process for businesses to register and participate in state contract opportunities. The guide provides step-by-step instructions for accessing the BidBuy platform (bidbuy.illinois.gov), creating a vendor account, and selecting appropriate NIGP (National Institute of Governmental Purchasing) codes that determine the types of bids a vendor will receive. Specific NIGP codes mentioned for this solicitation include 961-15, 918-52, 952-30, 961-38, 962-40, 972-18, and 989-40.

The registration process is free for vendors and requires creating an account with a unique login and password, providing company information, tax identification, and selecting relevant commodity codes. Vendors can seek assistance through the BidBuy Vendor Help Desk via email at il.bidbuy@illinois.gov or by phone at 866-455-2897, with support available Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm CT. The document emphasizes the importance of carefully selecting NIGP codes, as these drive the specific bid opportunities a vendor will receive, and warns against using section placeholder codes ending in -00.
