DEFENSE THREAT REDUCTION AGENCY
8725 John J. Kingman Road Fort Belvoir, VA 22060-6201
STATEMENT OF WORK
IN SUPPORT OF DTRA JOINT NUCLEAR PHYSICAL SECURITY BRANCH,
FOR PURCHASE OF (2) WORKSTATIONS
FOR SIM
9 April 2018
1. BACKGROUND. The Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear, chemical and Biological Defense Programs (ASD/NCB) chartered the Security policy Verification Committee (SPVC) to plan and execute Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) studies to assess the sufficiency of existing and proposed Department of Defense and Service nuclear physical security systems. As the Executive Agent, DTRA NE-NSN (Nuclear Surety Branch, Nuclear Surety Department) is responsible for planning, resourcing and executing robust evaluations and studies that support this mandate. The results of these efforts are directly reportable to the ASD/NCB, STRATCOM, EUCOM and Services and potentially guide considerable investment and strategic risk management efforts in those matters that effect nuclear security. The purpose of this effort is to purchase two (2) high end computer workstations (1) 128GB workstation; and one (1) 512GB workstation) for the NE-NSN Nuclear Physical Security (NPS) Modeling and Simulation Center (MOD SIM). These 2 workstations will be used to model DoD nuclear weapon locations to conduct security simulation studies for existing and proposed security systems. They will also support future RDT&E efforts for the Mighty Guardian program. Hardware is required to meet directorate mission stated above. Current hardware platform is affecting program growth to manipulate model data and storage of AVERT and DANTE program usage. Without the specified hardware upgrades, the MOD SIM program will be in great danger of work-stoppage for modeling and simulation activities around the world.
2. SCOPE OF WORK. As promulgated by the SPVC, DTRA mission task under the MOD SIM program is to provide models of nuclear security facilities with specific markings to that location. This SOW will support the purchase of one (1). All expenditures related to this statement of work are subject to the approval of DTRA.
3. OBJECTIVES: The objective of this effort is to purchase two (2) high end computer workstations, (1) 128GB workstation; and one (1) 512GB dual processor workstation to support future missions of the Nuclear Surety program efforts.
