Question Reference Government Response

Number of simultaneous staff user licenses for all locations – is that number SEVEN?

Data conversion – only MARC data converted? Are there two separate catalogs now or is everything combined in one?

part 5 Statement of work

There is one books database/catalog (all MARC) that holds the data for both branches but you can search each branch separately on our OPAC. There is also a patron database that would need to be imported/converted‐ It is a SQL database.

We are getting a ILS software to run the library. The vendor is providing the software (which will include computer codes called "databases") but the library is running the software and making all the decisions. This is contrasted with a research database like ProQuest where the library would pay money to ACCESS their existing database of resources. In that case the vendor owns the database and content and can place restrictions on the number of users or amount of access. In our case we own the content of the

"database", not the vendor. The vendor is providing a tool to use the content. Therefore we should really be able to add whatever content is necessary (including adding users) to fulfill our needs. If the vendor software cannot handle many users, then that vendors software can't meet our needs.
