The Government will verify the materials specification sheet submitted by the offeror and reserves the right to verify any and all data submitted. The Government will select PDMs and submerge in any liquid environment outlined in the Perf Spec: Section 3.10. Any passage of liquid to the ballistic material shall constitute a PDM failure. The Government will also weigh the PDM before and after liquid submersion to confirm any outer cover failure.

Areal Density

Reference:

Perf Spec: Section 3.3 Perf Spec: Section 3.6

The areal density of the production ballistic material, to include stitching and all construction materials (e.g.

tape), but excluding the outer protective cover (Para 3.5), shall be no greater than 0.80 pounds per square

To verify, the ballistic material shall be removed from the finished soft armor insert and areal density shall be measured in accordance with ASTM D-3776 and units shall be expressed in pounds per square foot.

Attachment 02 foot (objective), and no greater than

0.86 pounds per square foot (threshold).

The area of coverage shall be measured to the nearest .03 inches using a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) or steel ruler and the insert shall be weighed on scale to the nearest .01 lb.

Thickness Reference:

Perf Spec: Section 3.3 Perf Spec: Section 3.7

To verify, the thickness of the finished soft armor component shall be measured to the nearest 0.01 inch in accordance with ASTM-D-1777.

The pressure applied to the presser foot shall be 0.5 PSI.

Size Verification

RFP Section 52.212-1 / Perf Spec Section 1.2

All PDMs submitted by the offeror shall conform to all measurements and tolerances provided in Government drawings.

To verify, the Government will use a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) to determine compliance or steel ruler. Measurements will be the nearest 0.3 inches.
