Text version

Q1. It appears that there is an existing Government owned set of hardware (i.e. a hardware "baseline") that would continue to be used in support of GVSL activities. Is this correct, or does the RFI also seek information about options for new hardware? If so, what additional/new hardware related capabilities would be desired?

A1. This effort is in support of an existing capability utilizing the current GVSL simulation infrastructure.

Q2. Is the Government interested in the upgrade or enhancement of software and/or network capabilities to support the GVSL? For example, question #5 in the RFI asks about, "The interoperation of GVSL simulations with other simulators, simulations, and laboratories utilizing both government and/or commercial standards." Specifically, is the Government interested in integration with the Common Synthetic Environment (CSE) that is part of Army Futures Command's Synthetic Training Environment (STE)?

A2. In this effort, the Government is looking to enhance the current simulation framework within the GVSL. While the GVSL may look to integrate with the STE-CSE, it is not a focus of this effort.

Q3. If the answer to both #1 and #2 above is "yes", it appears that the Government is interested in not only sustaining existing capabilities, but also obtaining additional capabilities to support the GVSL. Is Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUMT) (of ground vehicles) a specific use case for these new/additional capabilities? What other focus areas or use cases are of interest to the Government?

A3. Manned-Unmanned teaming is a current focus area of the Ground Vehicle System Center and the GVSL. While it is definitely a use case for the simulation development conducted in the GVSL, it is not the main focus. The main focus of the GVSL is the design, integration and execution of real-time, human-in-the-loop simulation based experiments.
