Questions Concerning Amendment 1

20. AMENDMENT 01 Narrative:

1) A-102, A-104 and corresponding drawings – these drawing were not provided. Please provide drawings, narrative and more information/list for the corresponding drawings.

ANSWER: The narrative identifies the design change, and does not necessarily list each drawing affected. Those drawings contain corresponding clouds and delta at those locations.

2) M-202 Keynote is graphically added to refrigerant lines serving MAU-1. – M-202 was not provided - please advise

ANSWER: This change was not incorporated for the amendment; however, it is graphically clear the lines serving MAU-1 so this should not be a scope change.

3) S-113 Structural foundation dimensions at exterior ramp modified. Looks like note 2 was added – please advise

ANSWER: Structural foundation dimensions at exterior ramp have been modified to reflect the increase in width of the intermediate landing. Note 2 has been added to accommodate the extent of wall to exist at the stair/elevator lobby.

4) A-113 and corresponding sheets – please provide narrative, and more information/list for the corresponding drawings - There’s also a blank clouded area on the drawing? Please provide missing info.

ANSWER: Blank cloud in this case is a removed detail, which was included in the original RFP drawings. See comment to #1 regarding corresponding sheets

ANSWER: Amendment specifies a specific type of weather stripping (zinc type) and is normally included as a small part of a window specification and not covered in its own specification section per Masterspec and industry standards. The weather stripping will require contractor to install into existing window frames and field verification of inner frame profile will be required.

7) A-111 Waterproofing added to select areas along basement walls – Please provide specs.

ANSWER: Crystalline is specific type of waterproofing which is to be installed per manufacturer written instructions. No specification should be needed for pricing.

ANSWER: Narrative is not intended to indicate each sheet by number, but to communicate the actual design change, which may be illustrated on other sheets as well.

21. AMENDMENT 01 Drawings – there was 40 drawings provided in amendment 01, the narrative was very brief on what was changed/added etc. – Please provide a more detail narrative.

The below list of drawings was not addressed at all in the narrative - please provide a detailed narrative of the changes/adds for the follow drawings:

A-101, A-103, A-114, A-115, A-117, A-132, A-133, A-402, A-404A, A-405, A-503, A-601, A- 704, S-111, S-114, S-115, S-116, S-301, S-401 & S-402.

ANSWER: Intent of Narrative is to not have to outline each and every sheet, but to indicate what changed in the design. This does not affect pricing for the bid. Notably below lists more detail on the changes for the structural sheets for information purposes.

S-111: Due to the change in the extent of walls at the stair/elevator lobby above, the tube steel columns and foundations originally added at the clouded locations have been removed and the extent of existing masonry wall revised to reflect the change in extent of demolition.

Please note that new foundations will need to be provided below the slab, one at the intersection of the west corridor wall and the wall parallel and just to the north of grid line 8, and one at the intersection of the east corridor and grid line 8. These new foundations will be shown on the set of documents issued for construction.

S-114: The extent of stair infill has been revised to reflect the retention of the intermediate stair landing and the stair leading from the first floor to the intermediate landing. Since the drawing amendment was issued, it has been determined that the entire intermediate landing will be retained. This will be reflected in the set of drawings issued for construction.

S-115: The new W16x45 steel beam and supporting tube steel columns have been removed as a result of the change in extent of walls at the stair/elevator lobby. The existing (assumed) steel beams and the new LVL beams will now be supported from the first floor walls at the stair/elevator lobby that have been retained.

S-116: Section cuts referencing sections B, C, and D on drawing S-402 have been removed as a result of the change in extent of the sliding glass panel wall.

S-301: Section E on drawing S-301 has been revised to coordinate the overhang of the precast cap and the wall below at the ramp with the architectural drawings.

Amendment No. 3 to Solicitation GS-11P-12-MK-C-0055 11/21/2012

S-401: Sections H, J, and K on drawing S-401 have been noted as “Not Used” as these sections originally detailed connections to and support of the W16x45 steel beam that was removed from drawing S-115.

S-402: Sections B, C, and D on drawing S-402 have been noted as “Not Used” as these sections originally provided details for the support of the sliding glass panel wall, the extent of which has been revised.

Questions Concerning Other Sections

22. 230593 - 3.13 states that additional TAB is required within 90 days of TAB completion in order to ensure that balanced conditions are being maintained. What systems need to be retested? What percentage of the system(s) must be re-tested?

ANSWER: MAU-1 and MAU-2 shall be retested. 25% of the VRF units shall be verified.

23. Lobby 1-100 wall display –

Will complete shop drawing be supplied for this sign?

ANSWER: A complete sign shop drawing will need to be submitted.

Is the SS logo machined cast or is the logo applied to a stainless steel backer?

ANSWER: Machine cast

What is the thickness of the seal and letters?

ANSWER: Seal and letter to be ¼” minimum thickness.

24. Section G and H on S-301 indicates 12” poured walls are to be installed from the basement floor to the footing level 6’ below the basement floor along column lines 3 and 4. Is this area currently excavated or do we excavate down 6’ below the basement floor, install the footing, and then install the 12” concrete wall. If excavation is required, what fill material should be used and to what extent can we cut the basement floor slab in order to install the cast in place walls.

ANSWER: The walls are located in the crawl space below the basement slab on the south end of the building. We assume that the existing footing has about 12” of soil on top of the existing foundation in the crawl space that will require excavation.

25. Detail 3 A-402 closes up a window. Do we need to do anything special to the walls that face the exterior or should we install the 8 mil obscure film before work begins.

ANSWER: the 8 mil film will need to be applied prior to installing the wall sheathing. No additional work to the existing wall is required.

26. Details 2, 3, 4, and 5 on A-131 indicates a full batt insulation in the floor system. Is the batt insulation a full 10” and does this occur at every ceiling.

ANSWER: The batt insulation at each floor assembly is unfaced R-19 so thickness is not intended to fill the framing cavity. This occurs at all framed floors.

Amendment No. 3 to Solicitation GS-11P-12-MK-C-0055 11/21/2012

27. Please indicate where detail 4 A-131 is located. The detail shows that a 5/8” layer of drywall is attached to framing and cove lighting is attached at the sides. This detail will not allow an attachment of the cove lighting to the drywall, we will need framing to attach the drywall to which will support the cove lighting. Please indicate where this is located and a new detail.

ANSWER: Framing is shown on the detail, however, the line work disguising the vertical stud or base track may or may not be clear to the reviewer. Yes framing is required to support the cove lighting.

28. Drawing M-102 indicates removal of air conditioning units. IS any repair required of the windows once removed.

ANSWER: Units should be installed in windows without alteration of window frame.

Contractor shall assume that screw holes for AC unit brackets need to be filled in.

29. Are the exterior concrete pads that hold the existing condensing units that are being removed during demolition need to be removed. Please provide a drawing.

ANSWER: Yes, pads and dunnage removal is part of the demolition of the equipment itself providing it exists only to raise the units.
