APPLICATION CONSIDERATIONS
The SMARDT range of frictionless water cooled chillers offer a large operating envelope when compared to other centrifugal chillers though there are still application limits that must be observed this section details most of these for standard product offerings.
CHILLED WATER TEMPERATURES
The maximum chilled water temperature entering the evaporator chiller barrel whilst in the off mode (not running) shall not exceed a value of 110˚F (43˚C). The maximum entering chilled water temperature during operation shall not exceed 65˚F (18.3˚C).
The minimum chilled water temperature set point during operation shall not be less than 38˚F (3.3˚C) during operation without inclusion of glycol into the chilled water system.
The chilled water ∆T shall not exceed the maximum value as set out in the selection sheet – this is typically around 14˚F ∆T (7.7˚C ∆T) unless specifically selected otherwise.
Entering and leaving chilled water connections shall be made as indicated in the product drawings (typically this will indicate entering water in the bottom connection and leaving in top connection unless specified otherwise)
The evaporator and condenser are not self draining both must be blown out to completely remove water to prevent a freeze up.
