Cincinnati, OH

14. DESCRIPTION OF AMENDMENT/MODIFICATION

Amendment #001 is issued to make the following changes:

1.) The attached Questions and Answers are incorporated. The Answers provided in the attached supersede any inconsistent provisions contained in the solicitation, including the specifications and drawings.

2.) See attached drawing of freight elevator dimensions.

3.) The due date for receipt of proposals is extended to Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at

4 PM (Central Time).

All other solicitation terms and conditions remain unchanged.

1. Specification 064020 1.04 F. Mockups calls out only the Judges Bench. It states to see drawings for scope of mockup. I do not see anywhere that indicates the requirements such as size, scale, location, installation and removal or time-frame of this mockup. What are the specific requirements for the mockup?

Mock-ups shall be full-scale made of plywood and brought to the courtroom for review. Build five linear feet of the Judge’s Bench. There will be a one week review period.

2. Are any other mockups required besides the Judges Bench referenced in 064020 1.04 F. Mockups?

Table (Build 4 linear feet of the Table), witness, and Clerk/Deputy Station (Build three linear feet of the Clerk/Deputy Station) will require mockups with the same requirements as noted in previous answer.

3. Will the GSA provide a staging area for material storage?

Yes, material storage will be provided in the sub-basement and room 804 may also be used.

4. Will a dumpster be provided or is there a designated location the GC can set a dumpster?

Dumpsters may be set on the loading dock overnight or on weekends only. Dumpsters must be removed prior to 7am on all weekdays. Coordinate with the property manager at least 48 hours in advance for placement of dumpster.

5. The bonding agent/adhesive specified for the portraits is very expensive (approximately $1,000 per tube) and will add a lot of cost to the project. Will any other adhesives be allowed to be used for mounting the portraits?

The $1,000 price is for a kit with multiple anchors and adhesive tubes. The specified product (or equal) shall be used.

6. Can the casework be fabricated to incorporate both power and data together to eliminate some of the floor penetrations?

One floor penetration for low voltage and high voltage is acceptable under the following conditions: 1) both high voltage and low voltage cables are protected in independent EMI conduit with physical separation; and 2) high voltage and low voltage conduits should take separate pathways whenever possible so as to avoid being run in parallel.

7. Where will the benches be relocated to during the project? I do not believe they will fit in the freight elevator and it did not appear there would be room for all of them in the corridor.

Specific locations throughout the eighth floor have been designated in the public hallways (only one courtroom’s set of benches at one time) for storage of the benches during construction. Please see attached drawing for bench locations

8. Do we need to make provisions for an ADA ramp (or device) for the witness stand other than the removable step?

No.

9. Can another site visit be scheduled for additional verification of existing conditions?

Another site visit is available Feb 2 nd at 5pm. Meet at Courtroom 805. Site inspection must conclude by 6pm.

QUESTION-ANSWER

10. In the Specifications, page 145 of 382 of the PDF, Section 06 4020, 1.04 Quality Assurance, it provides a list of pre-approved manufacturers for millwork. If a manufacturer is on this pre-approved list, do we not have to submit qualifications per Factor 2 and Factor 4 (parts of the RFP that pertain to the millwork subcontractor)?

Submit the information requested.

11. 2.01 Materials, Paragraph L. Floor Mounted Jury Chairs. Taylor appears to be out of business. Please advise on preferred Jury chair manufacturer.

12. Is existing carpet glued down or laid down? The concern with glued down is the cork could pull up with the carpet. Need further direction from architect on the procedure for going over the existing cork floor. Can the cork be skim coated? What type of glue is required?

Glue down the carpet. Cork can be skim coated. Use manufacturer recommended adhesive for this installation.

13. Existing plaster at the back of the courtroom marked (ACM do not disturb) as a crack in it. Should this be repaired before painting?

No, do not repair the crack. It may disturb the ACM.
