CIT Passenger Elevators Modernization Project Contractor RFP Questions & Answers Amendment #1 for RFP GS-02-P-17-PV-SL01
February 27, 2017
1. The only way to access the machine room with new equipment is through the floor door in the machine room down to the 8th floor. This means the old and new equipment will have to utilize the passenger elevator being worked on to use for hoisting from basement to the 8th floor- these cars have a capacity rating of 3,000lbs. Some old and new equipment may exceed this capacity. How will GSA mitigate this possible issue? Response: Any equipment that exceeds 3,000lbs is to be disassembled and reassembled as needed to access the machine room.
2. All of Jacob Javits and CIT were modernized by KONE, and they used a priority system to monitor the elevators (in CIT and in Javits Fire Command Rm), and this system may also be integrated with the existing intercom system- there are no telephones in the cars. Communications are only by the intercoms. I do not believe anyone will be able to use the KONE software for monitoring or the intercom. Would it be useful to propose in what we can offer for monitoring and communications? Response: Connections are to be to existing KONE system.
