REMOVAL OF EXCESS FURNITURE AND MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS FROM GSA CENTRAL OFFICE
SCOPE OF WORK
INTRODUCTION
The General Services Administration (GSA) strategic sustainability goal is to eliminate our agency’s impact on the natural environment, and use our government-wide influence to reduce the environmental impact of the Federal government. GSA will be utilizing the Leadership in
Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Rating System as a goal in the design criteria to help apply principles of sustainable design and development to our facilities projects. GSA's broad reach over the acquisition, management, and disposal of Federal assets provides a unique opportunity to influence the environmental performance of the entire Government. Our objective is to provide tools, resources, guidance and direction for effective implementation of sustainable practices within GSA in support of Zero Environmental Footprint (ZEF). GSA's agents, including the contractors who execute work on GSA's behalf, will contribute to a Zero
Environmental Footprint by setting their own greenhouse gas reduction goals in line with and supporting those of GSA.
BACKGROUND STATEMENT
GSA is renovating its 100 year old federal building. Over 1,400 employees have recently been relocated to temporary office space. We purchased new furniture for the space and have the furniture and miscellaneous items left at the 1800 F Street location. We need to properly redistribute these items to organizations that can use them.
GOALS OF THE AGREEMENT
The goal of this Agreement is to provide a cradle to cradle turnkey approach to properly remove all of the excess systems furniture, white boards and miscellaneous items (e.g. pictures, silk plants, etc.) from the GSA Central Office prior to January 20, 2011. The items are to be recycled, repurpose and or reused by redistributing all of the items to organizations in need within the continental United States.
OBJECTIVES OF THE AGREEMENT
The objectives of this Agreement are to remove, recycle, repurpose, and reuse all of the excess items in the GSA Central office in the most efficient and cost effective way to save our environment and have “Zero Landfill”.
