| Number | Question | Response |
It has been communicated that IDM hardware supply is only available through USG procurement channels. Will the USG authorize the request for IDM hardware or have the ability to provide as GFE? | GFE will be specified in an RFP, if one is released.
There are various mature components and LRMs available that comply with GPC functional requirements but may not fully meet environmental requirements. Does the USG assign any priority to the pedigree and functionality of GPC components over full compliance to environmental requirements? | As stated in the workbook RFI Instructions, “The purpose of this RFI is to determine vendor products that meet as many of the requirements as stated in the workbook”. Please provide the environmental specifications that the product meets wrt the stated RFI requirements.
With respect to requirement GPC-SS-412, should Contractors assume that the external RIM and GPC LRU needs to fit within the SWAP envelope specified in the RFI requirements. | The RIM can be a separate LRU outside of the GPC, but would like to be within the SWaP stated in the RFI, if possible (ie, like stackable LRUs). If that is not possible, state the SWaP for each LRU/component.
IAW RFI Instruction Item. 8, bidders responses are considered via MBSE model OR Excel Spreadsheet workbook. Requesting confirmation that a completed Excel Workbook submission is not required in addition to an MBSE model? | Correct, completing either the spreadsheet or the MBSE model is acceptable.
Is the intent with the RFI to look at solutions to replace the IDM or to deliver a true General Purpose Computing capability to the Army fleet? | The intent is to determine what mature capability is available for a General Purpose Computing platform.
Are the quantities listed in the RFI a representative forecast of an annual production rate or does it represent total quantity procurement of the GPC? | Quantities listed in the RFI were to help Respondents with providing a ROM so the Government could understand the cost of technology.
Does the USG intend to field the GPC solution using the ISA software and if so, is the ISA software to be provided as GFE during CABAIL integration and test? | The USG will be responsible for integrating software onto the General Purpose Computing platform.
Does flexibility currently exist on the current program schedule, in order to field a higher compliant AMCE solution? | Please follow guidance in 3.6 reference schedule.
Does the USG intend to have any RDT&E funding to support fielding a high compliant GPC solution? | The RFI responses are intended to help the USG understand what funding is required.
What MOSA scenarios are most important to the USG as it pertains to GPC? | Modular hardware IAW the slot profiles specified and modular software IAW FACE.
Is the USG seeking to leverage the GPC IMA solution as part of a broader strategy to deploy a family of AMCE systems across the fleet? | Yes.
What is the expected GFI/GFE for a potential future program related to this RFI? | GFE/GFI will be specified in an RFP, if one is released.
Is the requirement for 50 GPIO channels in addition to the discrete interfaces required for the RIM? If so, would a GPIO count of less than 50 be acceptable if other I/O interface requirements can be met? | Please specify the number of GPIO that would be available on each LRU, if more than one LRU is required.
SwaP - Is the USG intent for the GPC IMA to be a form fit replacement for the current IDM-401 on the UH-60M, AH-64E and/or the CH-47F Enduring Fleet requiring minimal (little to no) wiring changes? | No. But fit within the current IDM 401 envelope on the Platforms.
Are the RIM requirements and IDM functionality required as part of the minimum capability set internal to the GPC? | No. The RIM can be a separate LRU outside of the GPC, but would like to be within the SWaP, if possible (ie, like stackable LRUs). If that is not possible, state the SWaP for each LRU/component.
Solid State Storge Device - Is it considered to be Integral to GPC LRU or an external device? | It could be either, but preferably integral to the GPC LRU. If a separate LRU, please state SWaP for the SSD.
TSN - Ethernet External Interfaces - Can we elaborate on the requirements asking for configurable external Ethernet interfaces IAW TSN? | Yes.
GPC-HW-SSS-137, 3.2.8, The GPC LRU Configurable Hardware subsystem shall only use firmware that is developed by U.S. citizens for a U.S. company. | The intent is to understand where firmware is developed to understand any potential vulnerabilities.
GPC-HW-SSS-138, 3.2.8, The GPC LRU Configurable Hardware subsystem shall only use software that is developed by U.S. citizens for a U.S. company. | The intent is to understand where firmware is developed to understand any potential vulnerabilities.
GPC-HW-SSS-251, 3.4.8, The GPC LRU Configurable Hardware subsystem shall provide separate internal interfaces for red and black enclaves to support Multi-Level Security (MLS). | The intent is to understand potential for processing classified and unclassified data within a single LRU. Or does the LRU only support a single security domain?
Can you provide a summary description of the reconfigurability expectations/requirements for the GPC LRU | State which parts of the product are able to be configured, and how is it able to be configured – via software configuration file or is a hardware change required. As examples of configurability, as stated for the MIL-STD-1553 interface, provide a “Brief description of configurability features (ie, RT address, disabling of Bus Control, disabling of Bus Monitor, etc) and configuration method (ie, configured via software configuration file, configured via hardware, etc)”. Can the external interfaces of the product be reconfigured from one type of external interface to another (ie, an external Ethernet port interface can be reconfigured to be an external MIL-STD-1553 external interface). Can the external interface characteristics be configured, such as General Input / Output (GPIO) active and inactive signal levels.
Does the workbook of requirements contain requirements for multiple AMCE LRUs (LRU 1, 2, etc.)? If a single LRU is there any relaxation opportunity on SWaP requirements? | As stated in the workbook RFI Instructions, “The purpose of this RFI is to determine vendor products that meet as many of the requirements as stated in the workbook”. The workbook contains functions, which can be satisfied by one or more components or LRUs. If multiple components, the desire is to have all components fit within the SWaP as stated. If that is not possible, state SWaP for each component.
When should an RFP be expected after RFI responses are analyzed? | The purpose of the RFI is market research to determine a path ahead
Can you describe the growth capacity expectations of the GPC LRU in more detail as it applies to the 50% thresholds and does the 350W limit remain in effect for that expected growth? | As stated in the workbook RFI Instructions, “The purpose of this RFI is to determine vendor products that meet as many of the requirements as stated in the workbook”. The minimum hardware resources and 350W limit provided in the RFI include an expectation of 50% growth capacity and are based on current USG knowledge of expected hardware resource requirements. If the total hardware resources required with a 50% growth capacity are not within the stated RFI minimum hardware resources, state the hardware resources required for each requirement.
Is the total page count for our RFI response really only 5 pages? | Any additional information related to the Workbook is limited to 5 pages. The Workbook itself is not included as part of the 5 pages. To address the sections in the RFI that are not part of the Model/Workbook (Sections 3.3, 3.5, 3.6, 3.7, 3.8, and 3.9), the Respondent should address these questions in 6 pages or less.
