About this file
This is Addendum #1 for a PA & Clocks System RFP issued by Grosse Ile Township Schools, with responses from Plante Moran dated February 7, 2025. The RFP seeks vendors for the installation and integration of PA systems and clocks, with proposals due February 28, 2025. The scope includes work at multiple school buildings including the High School, Middle School, and Parke Lane Elementary School. The district currently has Quam system 5/8 classroom speakers and Atlas/Soundolier C5AT72 PA speakers in the middle school, with varying numbers of speakers per classroom in the high school.
The project includes a base bid for PA system integration with existing audio systems requiring page mute functionality, plus an Add/Alternate 2 for replacement of classroom audio systems. Vendors are instructed to bid based on the device counts provided in the "Device Inventory" tab while noting any deviations found. The current cabling vendor is Nerds Express. There is no classroom audio system at Parke Lane Elementary School, but the district is considering replacing existing systems at the high school and middle school depending on proposed solutions' benefits and costs. Unit pricing is required to allow for proposal homologation and adjustment of final award amounts.

Re: Grosse Ile Township Schools PA & Clocks System RFP – Addendum #1
1. Curious if we can schedule an in-person/onsite meeting to review the spaces and evaluate wire runs, accessibility and demo? With a due date of 2/28, we have plenty of time.
R/. We believe this is not required as we’ve highlighted in the prints the things that may impact installation, such as high or fixed ceilings, for vendors to prepare their proposals. Any unforeseeable circumstances will be addressed via change order based on the proposal’s unit pricing as determined during the pre-installation walkthrough with the awarded vendor.
2. Does the District currently have 4 speakers per classroom at the HS and MS?
R/. The district currently has two classroom speakers and a PA speaker at the middle school. The classroom speakers are Quam system 5/8. The PA speakers are Atlas/Soundolier C5AT72 speakers.
The High School has two working classroom speakers, but up to five in several rooms. There are a few that don't seem to be working in several rooms, however they should all have at least two working quam systems 5/8 in each room.
3. What is the brand of PA and classroom speakers that the District has at the HS and MS?
R/. See previous answer
4. High School A2.10b Can you confirm the “B” [icon in the prints] is a bell to be demolished?
R/. Yes
5. Teachers Stations: Are we using existing wiremold or is new needed? We are aware we need new wiremold installed as needed at the device end.
R/. We are not aware of a need for new wiremold at the teacher station, the classroom AV scope of work is based on the reuse of existing locations.
6. Appendix A Device Inventory- Audio systems requiring page mute: Are these existing systems that need to integrated with the new PA system for the base bid.
R/. Yes, the base bid should include page mute integration to those systems.
Add/alternate 2 should consider the demo of existing classroom audio systems (not large area audio systems) and replacement with a solution that integrates with the PA system (for both emergency announcements over the classroom audio speakers as well as for emergency communications to override any classroom audio).
7. Add/Alternate 2: Classroom audio systems is to replace the existing if the budget is there?
R/. There is no classroom audio at Parke Lane, so is needed there. Depending on the proposed solution’s benefits and cost, the District is considering replacing the existing classroom audio systems at the HS and MS, and hence the request for vendors to propose on Add/Alternate 2.
8. Appendix A – Confirm all devices included in bid: We have conflicting counts, should we bid you counts so all bids are even?
R/. Yes, please bid based on the counts provided in the “Device Inventory” tab, but indicate what deviations you found, and provide the unit pricing necessary to adjust. That way we will be able to homologate proposals, and adjust the amount for awarding.
9. Who is the district’s current cabling vendor?
R/. Nerds Express
10. Correction to “Device Inventory” table in Appendix A:
The quantity of existing classroom audio systems to be demoed for Add/alternate 2 in Parke Lane ES is zero.
