About this file
This document is Addendum Number 1 dated April 10, 2019, for the Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) New Building Fiber (2019) RFP. The addendum addresses vendor questions received during the mandatory pre-bid meeting held on April 5, 2019, and via email. The bid submission deadline remains April 17, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. The project involves fiber installation at Randels Elementary School, requiring termination into a vendor-provided fiber tray in the MDF, with GISD Network Operations handling the installation of 4x4 port fiber multiplexers.
The addendum clarifies several technical specifications and options, including the use of existing 4" ducts, pathway options to the new building, and the ability to over lash onto existing fiber. Regarding bonding requirements, only the awarded bidder needs to submit a PLM Bond equal to the final contract amount. The district will consider alternative bids for all-underground installation, though this is not mandatory, as long as vendors submit the mandatory bid as well. Cost considerations are emphasized throughout the document as a key factor in choosing between available installation options.

This Addendum addresses vendor questions received during the mandatory pre-bid meeting on April 5, 2019 and via email. NOTE: The bid date for this Request for Proposals remains unchanged, April 17, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. All other terms and conditions of the bid shall remain in full force and effect.
Questions
1. Site Drawings
Provided as Addendum 2.
2. Pre-bid Meeting Vendor Sign-In Sheet
Provided as Addendum 3.
3. Will the fiber be going into Randels Elementary or using an existing splice point?
Fiber should go into Randels Elementary. Please terminate into a vendor provided fiber tray in the MDF at Randels Elementary. Do not use an existing splice point.
4. Is the awarded vendor to install the 4x4 port fiber multiplexers? Or just provide the item?
GISD Network Operations will install the multiplexers.
5. Are we to use the empty existing 4” duct” that is in the IDF room on the 1st floor? The opposite end, routing, footage was not able to be verified. There is a 2nd existing 4” duct that has an existing fiber cable in it. This is possibly AT&T duct/fiber to an existing handhole on Elms Rd.
We have no preference on which duct you use, but consider costs when determining which duct to use.
6. Existing pathway to new building was pretty sketchy so for bidding purposes are we to propose to locate and tie into existing pathway by way of setting a new vault or should we be proposing a new pathway to the back side new building and riser up to second floor ceiling environment to demarcation point?
We are open to either option. Please consider costs while quoting this. If you would like to provide an alternative bid with separate options, that is acceptable as well.
7. Page 4 Bidding Requirement #5 says “Awarded bidder shall also submit a PLM Bond in an amount equal to the final contract amount” – on Page 5 #13 #2 – Performance and Payment Bond is requested to be submitted with Bid Proposal. Please clarify
PLM Bond only needs to be submitted by awarded bidder.
8. As it stands now are still looking for an add alt for all underground?
We will consider alternate bids if the mandatory bid has also been submitted. An all Underground
Alternative bid is not a mandatory bid, but we will certainly consider both options.
9. Can we over lash onto the fiber at the school coming from the road going to the back of the parking lot?
Yes, you can over lash onto the fiber at the school.
