About this file
This document details Insurance Requirements for contractors and vendors working with the City of Meriden, Connecticut. The requirements specify mandatory insurance coverage minimums that must be maintained throughout the contract period, with the City of Meriden named as an Additional Insured on a primary and non-contributory basis for most policies.
The insurance requirements include specific minimum coverage limits across multiple policy types: General Liability ($1M per occurrence, $2M aggregate), Auto Liability ($1M combined single limit), Umbrella/Excess Liability ($1M each occurrence), and Workers' Compensation at statutory limits. All insurance carriers must be approved in Connecticut with a minimum AM Best's rating of "A-"VIII. Contractors must provide original, completed Certificates of Insurance prior to contract issuance and agree to submit renewal certificates at least 30 days before policy expiration. Additionally, if any policy is written on a "Claims Made" basis, it must be continually renewed for a minimum of two years from the contract completion date.
