About this file
This is an Insurance Requirements document for the City of Meriden, Connecticut, applicable to the construction of a splash pad facility at Hubbard Park. The City requires all contractors to maintain specified minimum insurance coverages throughout the contract duration and name the City of Meriden as an Additional Insured on a primary and non-contributory basis, except for Workers' Compensation. Required coverages include Commercial General Liability of $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate, Business Automobile Liability of $1,000,000 combined single limit, Workers' Compensation at Connecticut statutory limits, and Employers' Liability coverage of $1,000,000 per accident, per disease, and policy limit. All insurance must be issued by carriers approved in Connecticut with a minimum AM Best's rating of "A-"VIII. Original Certificates of Insurance must be presented to the City prior to contract issuance, with replacement or renewal certificates required at least 30 days before policy expiration dates.
All policies must include a Waiver of Subrogation, and for any policy written on a Claims Made basis, continuous renewal for a minimum of two years from contract completion is mandatory. If a Claims Made policy is replaced or the retroactive date is changed, the expiring policy must be endorsed to extend the reporting period for two years following contract completion. The contractor is required to provide 30 days' written notice to the City of Meriden of any policy cancellations, limit reductions, or coverage alterations. These insurance requirements align with the federal Community Development Block Grant funding and prevailing wage obligations associated with the splash pad construction project.
