About this file
This is an Insurance Requirements document for the City of Meriden, Connecticut, establishing mandatory coverage standards for contractors and vendors engaged in the construction of a Splash Pad at Hubbard Park. The contractor must maintain General Liability coverage of $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate, Auto Liability of $1,000,000 combined single limit, and Workers' Compensation at statutory limits with Employers' Liability coverage of $1,000,000 per accident and policy limit. All policies must be issued by carriers approved in Connecticut with a minimum AM Best's rating of "A-"VIII, with the City of Meriden named as an Additional Insured on a primary and non-contributory basis for all policies except Workers' Compensation. Original Certificates of Insurance must be submitted prior to contract issuance, with renewal certificates provided at least 30 days before policy expiration dates.
All policies must include a Waiver of Subrogation clause. Should any policy be written on a claims-made basis, continuous renewal is required for a minimum of two years following project completion, with an endorsement extending the reporting period if the policy is replaced or the retroactive date is modified. The contractor must notify the City of Meriden within 30 days of any policy cancellations, limit reductions, or coverage alterations. Umbrella or Excess Liability coverage requirements are specified in the document but lack defined limits, indicating these should be established through contract negotiation or supplementary documentation.
