About this file
This is an Insurance Requirements document issued by the City of Meriden, Connecticut, establishing mandatory insurance coverage standards for contractors and vendors performing work on municipal contracts, including the Edison Middle School Roof Replacement project. The City of Meriden requires contractors to maintain General Liability coverage of $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 general aggregate, Auto Liability of $1,000,000 combined single limit, Workers' Compensation at statutory limits with Employers' Liability of $1,000,000 per accident and disease, and Umbrella/Excess Liability coverage with specified limits per project aggregate. All policies must be issued by carriers approved in Connecticut with a minimum AM Best's rating of "A-"VIII, must name the City of Meriden as an Additional Insured on a primary and non-contributory basis (except Workers' Compensation), and must include a Waiver of Subrogation. Original Certificates of Insurance must be submitted to the City prior to contract issuance, with replacement certificates provided at least 30 days before policy expiration dates. For claims-made policies, continuous renewal is required for a minimum of two years following contract completion, with provisions to extend reporting periods if policies are replaced or retroactive dates are modified.
The document mandates that contractors provide 30 days' written notice to the City of Meriden of any policy cancellations, limit reductions, or coverage alterations. These insurance requirements apply to all contractors and vendors engaged by the City, ensuring adequate protection and risk management for municipal projects. No specific pricing information, set-asides, or funding sources are detailed in this insurance requirements document, as it serves as a standard contractual insurance provision rather than a pricing or procurement summary document.
