G15PS00292, Amendment 0002 Questions and Responses – RFP Attachment 8
1. Question: Are there any known hazardous materials in the building?
Response: The building has been abated. No known hazardous materials exist.
2. Question: Are the existing building drawings available in CAD?
Response: There are no existing building drawings or As-built drawings in CAD.
3. Question: Are As-Built drawings required to be provided in CAD? If so, are the As-Built CAD drawings only required for the project areas?
Response still pending.
4. Question: What type of Video Conferencing system is at the USGS central offices?
Response:
Our main Hqs/Central Offices use the following:
42”-50" LED TV
Cart system Polycom Codec (720p)
5. Question: Please confirm that there is no basement or space below the current library that is to be the new conference room. The flush mount power and data outlets for the new conference room will require trenching the concrete floor.
Response: Confirmed - No basement or space below the current library.
6. Question: Is there a preliminary new layout available for Area 2 the MWR Office Spaces?
Response: A preliminary layout is provided at Attachment 6.
7. Question: Area #2 MWR Office Spaces lists sound-proof walls for the suite and windows. Please provide any specific STC or NIC ratings for the wall assembly, doors and windows. Please confirm the understanding per the walk-through on 4/22/15 that the area of acoustic concern is the one Regional Director's office and the window that would be in that door.
Response: See added alternative line item and line item description.
An STC50 rating is a common building standard and blocks approximately 50dB from transmitting through the partition. However, occupants could still be subject to awareness, if not understanding, of loud speech. Constructions with a higher STC (as much as 10dB better - STC 60) should be specified in sensitive areas where sound transmission is a concern.
8. Question: Area #2 MWR Office Spaces statement of work lists to "replace windows to support build-out". Are the exterior windows to be replaced?
Response: Windows WILL NOT be replaced.
9. Question: Is there a recommended quality level for the furnishings?
Response:
Recommended furniture manufacturers:
Herman Miller (highest quality) Steelcase (2nd highest) Tremway (3rd highest)
10. Question: Is there a recommended quality level for other materials or furnishings?
Response:
- Repair and Paint walls suggested manufacturer: Sherwin Williams paint
- Replace Carpet suggested manufacturers: Mohawk, Shaw, Bigelow
- Book shelves suggested manufacturers: Hon office furniture, Tennsco Corporation, Safco
- Lighting suggested manufacturers: GE lighting, Lithonia, Day-Bright
- Floor covering for open space that is not carpeted suggested manufacturer/quality = 12 x 12 Vinyl composition tile (VCT) by either Armstrong, Azrock, Mannington Mills
11. Question: Are drawings for the areas to be renovated available for public dissemination?
Response: Electrical drawings are provided at Attachment 5. Additionally, a print of the current South Wing layout is provided at Attachment 7.
12. Question: Base Item 2 (MWR Office Space) involves removing a wall that currently divides two areas with separate HVAC controls. Please let me know if this finding will result in any change to this contract.
Response: Refer to Attachment 7 South Wing Current Print. USGS’s recommended solution to this finding: As shown on Attachment 7, the current areas/rooms G10, G11, G13, G15, G16, G17, and G17A-F are supported by an HVAC system; the current rooms G08, G08A, and G09 are supported by heat pumps. Once the wall separating G08A/G09 from G10 is removed in conjunction with the work performed in Area 2 (New MWR Office Spaces), the heat duct will need to be reconfigured so that the entire New MWR Office Space will also be supported by the same heat pump system. Ducting work and balancing of the two systems (HVAC and heat pumps) will be required to provide consistent air flow/temperatures.
13. Question: Will the conference room be getting a new door or reuse existing?
Response: The new conference room will reuse existing door, apply new coat of paint.
14. Question: Will the door openings shown on the new office space G08, G08A, G09, G10 and G11 be new or are they existing?
Response: Entrances to G08 and G09 will be closed off. Reuse door currently between G10 and G11. Please share the attached concept layout, “south wing reno future concept, slide #3) with vendors for the office space envisioned in this area (G08-G11).
15. Question: Will the door openings shown on office spaces 119, 120 and 121 be new or are they existing?
Response: Reuse existing, apply new coat of paint.
Additional Clarification:
1. Within Base Item 2, an additional fire alarm is to be installed to wall of G10, lined up where current fire alarm exists.
