About this file

This is a reference table of award mechanisms and submission requirements for the Fiscal Year 2026 Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs Ovarian Cancer Research Program (OCRP).

The OCRP offers six award mechanisms with varying eligibility criteria and funding levels. The Clinical Trial Award (HT942526OCRPCTA) supports rapid implementation of clinical trials for independent investigators at all academic levels, with a maximum of $2.8 million over 4 years; it requires a Letter of Intent due September 15, 2026, and a full application due October 1, 2026. The Investigator-Initiated Research Award (HT942526OCRPIIRA) targets investigators at or above Assistant Professor level (or equivalent) with maximum funding of $1.05 million for single PIs or $1.40 million for partnering PIs over 4 years; it requires a preproposal due July 13, 2026, and invitations for full applications by October 1, 2026. The Ovarian Cancer Academy – Early-Career Investigator Award (HT942526OCRPOCAECI) supports early-career investigators within five years of their last postdoctoral or clinical fellowship with $1.125 million over 4 years; it requires a Letter of Intent due September 15, 2026, and a full application due October 1, 2026. The Ovarian Cancer Clinical Trial Academy – Early-Career Investigator Award (HT942526OCRPOCCTAECI) targets early-career investigators within 12 years of their last postdoctoral or clinical fellowship with maximum funding of $1.4 million over 4 years; it requires a Letter of Intent due September 15, 2026, and a full application due October 1, 2026. The Pilot Award (HT942526OCRPPA) supports postdoctoral or clinical fellows with high-risk/high-reward research up to $350,000 over 2 years; it requires a blinded preproposal due July 13, 2026, and invitations for full applications by October 1, 2026. All mechanisms require preliminary data except the Pilot Award, which encourages but does not require it. All award periods are 4 years except the Pilot Award, which is 2 years.

Independent investigators at all academic levels.

• Supports rapid implementation of clinical trials with the potential to significantly impact ovarian cancer.

• Proposed projects may range from small, proof-of concept trials through large-scale, definitive trials, including early-phase or pilot clinical trials (phase 0, 1 or 1/2).

• Applications require preliminary data.

Larger, more definitive clinical trials, including expansion of previous promising pilot trials, must include preliminary data with respect to safety in an ovarian cancer population.

• Submission of a Letter of Intent is required prior to full application submission.

• The maximum period of performance is 4 years.

• The maximum allowable funding for the entire period of performance is $2.8 million (M) for total costs. *

Investigators at or above the level of Assistant Professor, or equivalent.

Partnering Principal Investigator (PI) Option:

Up to two investigators may collaborate on a single application, each of whom will serve as a PI and receive a separate award.

• Supports high-impact research that addresses a critical need and demonstrates the potential to make an important contribution to ovarian cancer or patient/survivor care.

o Applications cannot support clinical trials.

o Applications proposing research on cell lines or animals must provide justification for use.

o Research aimed at extending the lives of advanced state and recurrent patients encouraged.

o Applications require preliminary data.

Submission of a Preproposal is required; full application submission is by invitation only.

• The maximum period of performance is 4 years.

• Single PI: maximum allowable funding for the entire period of performance is $1.05M for total costs. *

• Partnering PI Option:

Maximum allowable funding for the entire period of performance is $1.40M for total costs. *

• Program Announcement

• General Application

Instructions

Grants.gov Funding Opportunity Number:

HT942526OCRPOCAECI

Investigators must be within five years of their last postdoctoral research position or clinical fellowship or equivalent as of the full application submission deadline.

Requires a letter attesting to eligibility.

• Supports the addition of new early-career investigators to the unique, interactive, virtual academy that provides intensive mentoring, national networking, collaborations and a peer group for junior faculty.

o Encourages applications from ECIs limited by lack of resources or other overwhelming obstacles, impacting their ability to commit to conducting ovarian cancer research.

o Requires a designated mentor who is an experienced ovarian cancer researcher with ovarian cancer funding.

o The ECI and designated mentor may originate from different institutions.

o Applications cannot support clinical trials. An ECI that wishes to propose a clinical trial may refer to the Ovarian Cancer Clinical Trial Academy – Early-Career Investigator Award mechanism.

o Investigators who apply to both the Ovarian Cancer Academy – Early- Career Investigator Award and the Ovarian Cancer Clinical Trial Academy – Early-Career Investigator Award mechanisms may not accept an award from both mechanisms.

• The maximum period of performance is 4 years.

• The maximum allowable funding for the entire period of performance is $1.125M for total costs. *
