About this file
This document is a Description of Intended Single Source Purchase (PUR 7776) from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). The FWC is seeking to acquire Enzyme-linked Immunsorbant Assay (ELISA) testing kits for the measurement of brevetoxin in seafood from SeaTox Research Inc. for a period of up to 3 years. The kits must be approved by the Interstate Shellfish Sanitation Conference for use in regulatory shellfish testing for biotoxins. The estimated dollar amount for this single source purchase is up to $750,000.
The justification for the single source acquisition is that the brevetoxin ELISA kit is the only test kit approved by the Interstate Shellfish Sanitation Conference for testing shellfish for Neurotoxic Shellfish Poisoning (NSP) within a regulatory framework, which is required to fulfill the FWC's mandate to provide technical support to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. SeaTox Research Inc. is the new sole distributor of these ELISA kits, as the previous single source vendor, Marbionic, has transferred the brevetoxin ELISA kits to SeaTox.
