About this file
This document is a Sample CNP Operator Letter of Commitment from the Samplesville School District in support of the "Growing Samplesville Together" project proposed by the Samplesville Garden Club. The school district commits to serving as the program site and implementation partner, providing locations at each of its six schools for school gardens and devoting at least 10 hours per month of staff time to the project. The school nutrition program director will also work with the Samplesville Garden Club to identify and source locally produced foods for school meals.
The related federal grant opportunity is the FY2025 Farm to School State Agency Grant, a 24-month grant of up to $500,000 from the USDA Food and Nutrition Service. The grant is intended to promote agricultural education and increase the amount of local food served in eligible Child Nutrition Program operators by funding State agencies to support and grow farm to school efforts. State agencies are the only eligible applicants, and they must provide a minimum 25% match in cash or in-kind contributions.

[NOTE: Letters of commitment should be on the supporting organization’s official letterhead]
November 1, 2023
Samplesville School District 1 School Drive Samplesville, MS 11111
To Erica Antonson, Acting Branch Chief, Grants Management Operations Branch:
The Samplesville School District provides this letter to indicate our commitment to serve as the program site and implementation partner for Samplesville Garden Club in their project, “Growing Samplesville Together.”
Samplesville School District is excited to partner with Samplesville Garden Club to expand school gardening efforts from two of our schools to all six schools within the district, as well as expanding local sourcing for the school district. Our district will support the education and gardening component of this project by providing locations at each school for school gardens and devote at least 10 hours per month of staff time to the garden project. Additionally, the school nutrition program director will work with Samplesville Garden Club to identify and source locally produced foods to feature in school meals that coordinate with and complement the garden-based education activities provided by Samplesville Garden Club.
Samplesville School District operates the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program in the six schools within our district, which serves 1,234 students grades K-12.
We believe this project has the potential to make a lasting impact for our students and the greater Samplesville community. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely, Jane Doe Jane Doe Superintendent, Samplesville School District
