About this file
This is an Addendum #1 to a scope of work document for Fort Wilkins Historic State Park's chimney and bakery oven repairs project. The work involves brick masonry repairs and replacements on multiple chimneys across three historic fort buildings (West, Central, and East officer's quarters), totaling 14 chimneys, as well as reconstruction of a historic bakery oven. The scope includes replacing between 5-75 bricks per chimney, with specific quantities detailed for each location, and complete reconstruction of the bakery oven requiring approximately 545 total replacement bricks. The work must be performed Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with specific blackout dates in September 2018.
All work must comply with specific material requirements including Type N mortar, ASTM C 216-17a standard specifications for facing brick, and precise brick dimensions (approximately 3" width, 2-1/4" height, 7-7/8" length). The contractor must provide their own water and electric utilities, protect their work from public access and weather elements, and follow proper lead paint safety protocols as all chimneys are assumed to contain lead-based paint. The scope explicitly excludes interior bakery oven repairs and stone masonry foundation work, and notes that final painting will be performed by others.
