Amendment 1 FN1567-24 Particleboard

Q: We don’t have a source for Micore, but would like to quote the other items. Is this acceptable?

A: Yes

Q: The part numbers you shared as requirements are not listed on the Unicor website.

Please share the manufacturer name or the original part numbers, So we would be able to offer you a solution.

A: These part numbers will not be found on UNICOR's website as these are not items that UNICOR makes. These items are the raw materials required to make the items you find on UNICOR's website. That being said, the part numbers are not really important at this point. Please quote per the specs listed in the solicitation statement of work.

Q: I have not worked with Unicor before. Can you folks shed some light on the first steps to submit my bid as well as provide any other info that might be helpful?

A: Federal Prison Industries (FPI), which operates under the trade name UNICOR, is a wholly-owned Government Corporation within the Department of Justice, under the Federal Prison System. The Corporation was created by Congress in 1934, and provides employment, education, and training opportunities to inmates under Federal custody.

UNICOR operates approximately 99 factories in over 64 locations. Its production lines are extensive and include over 250 different products and services sold to other Federal Agencies and the Department of Defense. The Office Furniture Business Group (whom initiated this solicitation) allows inmates an opportunity to learn manufacturing skills as it relates to building office furniture type items.

The best advice is for you to carefully read the solicitation in its entirety. Section C will describe the specifications we require for the particleboard we are searching for in this opportunity. When considering placing an offer with the federal government for any material or service, please remember the government wishes to do business that is equally beneficial to the vendor and the government. When setting your pricing, ensure your are including an adequate profit to suit the needs of your organization while considering what would best benefit the government.

Section M. of the solicitation will explain how each offer will be compared to any other offer received by the government. Section L. contains the business management questionairre that is required by all vendors placing on offer. Sections B and C include information regarding samples and whether or not you are required to submit any. Be sure you are familiar with all deadlines and are able to meet those deadlines as offers will not be considered if a deadline is missed.

Q: Can you tell me what quantities each facility used of each item in 2024?

A. These quantities are a sum total for all factories involved.

• HRB0001 600 ea

• PRB0003 32,430 ea

• PRB0026 62,076 ea

• PRB0100 47,097 ea

• PRB0107 0 ea

• PRB0117 630 ea

• PLY2017 5,510 ea

All terms and conditions remain the same. The offer and sample submission deadline is October 22, 2024 at 2:00 p.m., EST.
