FAR(48 CFR) 53.243

This amendment hereby answers the following questions:

Q: The assumption/statement that Unicor is using # 2 SYP boards and the answer that was provided is nebulous. The boards are used for pallets. The weight carrying capacity of KDSYP is stronger than the western grades. The difference is in the amount of wane and the size of the allowable knots which probably do not affect the function of its use. Can you be more definitive on what is acceptable as to species, moisture content and grade so that hearsay is not interpreted as to your requirements A: Please prepare your proposal to meet the grades and species specified in the item specifications. You can quote a higher grade lumber, but it must at a minimum be what is specified.

Q: We have been In a recession for several years. With any type of turn around in the Market, lumber prices could go up 20 to 30% or more.

If Unicor can determined if next year will be exercised, does the successful bidder have the option of not accepting the next years contract?

A: No only the government has the right to decide to exercise or not exercise option years.

Q: Based on the last list of questions and answers, should we be quoting a 1x4-8 #2 SYP or a 1x4-8 #3 SYP. Also it does state that a resawn product is allowed. Is that still true?

A: If the item specification states #3 Common SYP, please provide pricing on this species and Grade.

Resawn lumber is specified in the description. Resawn lumber is allowed for the pallet lumber. S4S lumber is also allowable for the Pallet lumer.

Q: On the grade #3 WWPA is a western lumber etc spruce, pine fir, lodge pole #3 boards SYP under rules of SPIB grade agency, different rules.

#3 SYP is same as #4 WWPA rules. I think you what #2 SYP A: Please prepare your proposal to meet the grades and species specified in the item specifications. You can quote a higher grade lumber, but it must at a minimum be what is specified

Closing date and time is hereby extended until September 1, 2011 at 2:00 pm EST.

Except as provided herein, all other terms and conditions remain unchanged.
