About this file

This is a Fleet Information document detailing the current vehicle and surveillance equipment inventory for the City of Santa Monica Department of Transportation's Big Blue Bus fleet. The fleet comprises 173 revenue vehicles, including 57 Gillig 40' BRT buses from 2013, 25 Gillig 40' BRT buses from 2017, 18 Gillig 40' Low Floor Plus buses from 2021, 15 Gillig 35' Low Floor Plus buses from 2025, and various other Gillig and New Flyer models ranging from 2011 to 2025. The non-revenue vehicle inventory includes 15 support vehicles consisting of Toyota Camrys, Ford Explorers, Ford Lightning F150s, and Ford F250s. The onboard video surveillance system currently consists of two types of camera systems: IP cameras installed on 45 buses equipped with Mobileview NVR-7000 network video recorders from 2015 through 2018, and analog cameras installed on 66 buses with AHD Roadrunner recorders from 2011 through 2013. The IP camera system utilizes multiple camera models (MVC-9100-28-WI, MVC-9100-40-WI, MVC-9000-40-WI, MVC-9000-28-WI, MVC-9100-28-BK, and others) with varying quantities per bus depending on the bus model and year.

This inventory document serves as the baseline for the Request for Proposals for the Onboard Bus Video Surveillance System replacement project, which seeks a turnkey solution including design, equipment, installation, integration, maintenance, and warranty services to modernize the existing system across the entire Big Blue Bus fleet. The document provides proposers with comprehensive specifications of current fleet composition and existing surveillance infrastructure to inform their bid development and equipment recommendations for the modernization initiative.
