About this file
This document is a fish food formulation request for the state fish hatcheries, Jake Wolf Fish Hatchery and Little Grassy. It outlines the requirements for high-quality pelleted fish food starter and grower diets needed to support the production of 90,000 Rainbow Trout, 175,000 Brown Trout, 800,000 Channel Catfish, and 80,000 Blue Catfish. The feed must include nutrient-rich crumbled starter feed, extruded sinking salmon feed, and extruded floating feed in a variety of sizes ranging from 0.3-7.5 mm. The feed must have specific nutritional guarantees, including minimum crude protein, fat, and phosphorus levels, as well as maximum crude fiber, ash, and moisture content.
The fish food must be packaged in 50-pound bags and have a minimum 12-month shelf life when stored properly. This feed is essential for the intensive culture of the cold and warm water fish species reared at the state hatcheries. There are no pricing terms, set-asides, incumbents, funding sources, or other salient commercial details provided in the document.

Text version
Fish Food Formulation High quality pelleted fish food, starter and grower diets formulated for the accelerated production of Rainbow Trout (90,000), Brown Trout (175,000), Channel Catfish (800,000), and Blue Catfish (80,000). This feed includes a nutrient-rich crumbled starter feed, extruded sinking salmon feed and extruded floating feed that is easily digestible. Fish meal will provide the primary protein source that trout and catfish species can grow most efficiently on. Sizes for starter feed include #0 (.3-.6mm), #1 (.5-.8mm), and #2 (.8-1.2mm). Sizes for extruded sinking fry food are 1.0 and 2.0 mm and extruded floating are 1.5 and 2.5 mm. Larger sizes of extruded sinking (3, 4, and 6 mm) and extruded floating (3.5 and 7.5 mm) are needed for rearing trout and catfish fingerlings, respectively.
The nutritional content of the feed should be guaranteed for at least twelve months from the date of manufacture when stored in a cool, dry location and must be packaged in 50-pound bags. Fish food must be provided in a wide variety of sizes listed above and is essential for the intensive culture of cold and warm water fish species reared at Jake Wolf Fish Hatchery and Little Grassy.
Starter Fish food, extruded crumbles, including sizes #0 (.3-.6mm), #1 (.5-.8mm), and #2 (.8-1.2mm) must have at minimum 52% crude protein, minimum 16% crude fat, 9% moisture, maximum 3% crude fiber, minimum 1.2% phosphorus, maximum 12% ash and have digestible energy ratio (MJ/KG) of 18.2. Additional ingredients should include Vitamins A, D, B6, B12, K, and Folic Acid to promote fish health.
Extruded pelleted fry fish food including sizes 1.0 mm sinking, 1.5 mm floating, 2.0 mm sinking, and 2.5 mm floating must have fish meal as no less than the third ingredient and have at minimum 45% crude protein, minimum 16% crude fat, 9% moisture, maximum 3% crude fiber, minimum 1.0% phosphorus, maximum 12% ash and have digestible energy ratio (MJ/KG) of 17.1. Additional ingredients should include Vitamins A, D, B6, B12, K, and Folic Acid to promote fish health.
Extruded pelleted fingerling fish food including sizes 3.0 mm sinking, 3.5 mm floating, 4.0 mm sinking, 6.0 mm sinking and 7.5 mm floating must have fish meal as one of its top 10 ingredients and have at minimum 40% crude protein, minimum 12% crude fat, 9% moisture, maximum 3% crude fiber, minimum 1.0% phosphorus, 12% ash and have digestible energy ratio (MJ/KG) of 14.6. Additional ingredients should include Vitamins A, D, B6, B12, K, and Folic Acid to promote fish health.
