About this file

This Statement of Need (SON) from the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Pittsburgh outlines requirements for one Medtronic Bundled IPC System (Part Number IPCSYSKIT). The system will enable surgeons to operate powered tools like drills and microdebriders through a unified platform, specifically for endoscopic transnasal sinus procedures. The Operating Room currently borrows a system from the manufacturer and needs an additional unit to run multiple Operating Rooms simultaneously.

The required bundle includes an IPC Console, IV Pole Storage, 6 Meter Power Cord, Foot Switch, and PWR Console Manual. Delivery must be FOB Destination during business hours (8:00am-3:30pm, Monday-Friday, excluding Federal holidays) and coordinated in advance with the POC. All items must be shipped together unless size constraints require multiple shipments, which must be pre-approved. The VA purchase order number must be included on packing slips, and any contractor-caused damage must be repaired within 90 days at the contractor's expense.

Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center

(646) Pittsburgh Statement of Need (SON) Medtronic Integrated Power Console (IPC SYSTEM)

1. BACKGROUND:

The Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, (646) University Drive C. Pittsburgh, PA 15240, has a new requirement for one (1) Medtronic Bundled IPC System, Part Number IPCSYSKIT.

This IPC System allows surgeons to operate powered tools like drills, microdebriders, and other surgical instruments through one unified platform. The Operating Room intends on using this IPC System with the Medtronic M5 Microdebrider handpieces on hand for endoscopic transnasal sinus procedures. The Operating Room currently uses a borrowed system from the manufacturer.

This system is going to be an addition to run multiple Operating Rooms when this system is needed for a procedure. Surgical Services currently has one available IPC System and having an additional IPC system will prove beneficial as it allows the Operating Room to run multiple procedures at once, providing efficient care to our veterans.
