22040AMLBAML Reclamation Project Pike County Project Description The Radford Ratliff site is located at 358 Little Panther Branch. Coordinates at the project site are 37.2583°N, 82.5006°W. Driving Directions: From the intersection of US-23 and KY-805 at Dorton, take KY-805 West 5.4 miles and turn left onto KY-197. Travel 6.7 miles and turn left onto Sycamore Road. Travel 1.2 miles and turn right onto Little Panther Branch. Site is at the end of the road. Waste area (37.2477°N, 82.5310°W): From the project site, travel Little Panther Branch road to end and turn left onto Sycamore Road. Travel 1.2 miles and turn right onto KY-

197. Travel 2.5 miles and turn right onto Upper Pigeon Branch Road. Travel 0.7 miles to the waste deposition area on the right.

The site involves a large landslide that broke from a pre-law bench (push over material) above the Radford Ratliff house seat. The slide material (mud flow) traveled down the drain approximately 650 feet and deposited a significant amount of mud and debris into the yard and driveway. The landslide damaged a drilled water well, out building, and sawmill. The slide did not strike the home. The landslide deposited material in two (2) more locations below Radford Ratliff s house seat. All these sites will be reclaimed.

This project consists of removing slide material from the citizen s yard and the natural drain, installing long-term sediment control, and installing drainage features to conduct the water to a stable natural drain. At the Radford Ratliff site (358 Little Panther Branch), a modified gabion weir will be constructed to intercept slide material from above and store the material until maintenance is necessary. A 2 foot wide Class II ditch will be installed across the yard area from the weir to the culvert under the driveway (also being replaced). Further downstream, 2 sections of 2 foot wide Class II ditch will be installed (totaling approximately 240 LF).

The majority of the slide material remains just below the pre-law mine bench in an unstable condition. The landowner at the slide has prohibited reclamation by this agency.

The project site and waste area have previously been disturbed by coal mining operations and residential development. Construction disturbances will be kept to a minimum utilizing the approved Best Management Practices prior to beginning any major earth disturbance (excluding initial site preparation for access only) until all silt control measures are installed. These include (but are not limited to) silt bales, fence and temporary traps. No trees greater than 3 in diameter or greater (breast height) will be removed as part of this project. All woody material will be burned at the project site (if conditions allow) or waste area. All disturbed areas

Document ID: RFB 785 2500000079 Page: 3 will be promptly revegetated at the end of construction. Cover crop is included for temporary soil stabilization as necessary.

Access to the site will be via state, county and private roads. Bituminous repair is included for replacement of damaged asphalt on Little Panther Branch and other areas as necessary.
