Section 11 Attachments
Attachment A: Training Ovivo circular and mechanism-based clarifiers require routine upkeep focused on cast-iron oil-lubricated drives, torque-monitoring safety switches, and sludge collection components. While a single comprehensive training highlights PDF for every proprietary model is restricted, operation relies on standard preventative maintenance protocols. Training will ensure proper operations and maintenance will ensure a long life and warranty compliance.
Contractor shall provide training for the proper Operation and Maintenance of the OVIVO CLARIFER UNIT. Training shall include the following:
Drive and Mechanical Maintenance
• Oil levels: Check the cast-iron gear housing regularly and change the oil per the specific operation and maintenance (O&M) manual schedule.
• Torque limiter: Test the mechanical or electronic overload/torque alarm monthly to ensure the drive cuts power during high-torque or jammed-rake events.
• Rotation check: Visually verify uniform rotation speed and inspect the main center cage, drive bearings, and pinion/gear alignment.
Sludge and Scum System Checks
• Scraper blades: Inspect rubber squeegees or spiral blades for wear to ensure complete floor scraping without excessive drag.
• Suction risers/valves: For suction-type clarifiers (like C3S models), clear and sample individual riser pipe gate valves to maintain balanced return activated sludge (RAS) withdrawal.
• Scum skimmers: Adjust skimmer blades, beach plates, and flushing water sprays to prevent scum accumulation and pipe clogging.
