About this file

This document is a service characteristics and pricing guide for Forensic Investigative Genetic Genealogy (FIGG) services. The document outlines the comprehensive suite of forensic DNA testing and genealogical investigation services available, organized by service category with pricing tiers based on sample type and complexity.

Evidence screening and serological services include preparation of biological samples (blood, saliva, semen, urine, menstrual blood) with three size categories (Swab Small Items & Extracts, Large Item, Extra Large), analysis of spent shell casings and cartridges, small bone and tooth examination, large bone/skull/mandible extraction, hair shaft analysis (1-5 hairs with custom quotes for larger quantities), and M-Vac screening with three filters. DNA STR analysis covers suspect or victim standards and evidence samples from bones, teeth, hair, M-Vac filters, and sexual assault samples with differential extraction options. Additional testing services include DNA Y-STR analysis, STRmix mixture analysis, NGS testing (Signature Prep B and Whole Genome mtDNA), and multiple turnaround options ranging from 48 hours to 3 weeks, with weekend rush fees available. Genealogy testing encompasses case review for suitability, evidence screening/serology (with variable costs for large items), STR testing (if required), sample qualification and enrichment procedures, and NGS SNP testing for whole genome sequencing with accredited laboratory processing and chain of custody documentation. The genealogy investigation component includes unlimited genealogical research for one year with continued monitoring until case resolution, additional investigation time available in 5-hour blocks, investigative genealogist contract services, phenotyping reports (hair and eye color prediction), and bioinformatics support. Database uploads to GEDmatch and Family Tree DNA are included with Kintelligence testing at no cost (vendor paid), with genealogist-performed uploads to two additional genealogy databases including 2 hours of research and a preliminary report. Expert witness testimony services are available including court appearances, travel, teleconference options, trial preparation (approximately 2 hours typical), and hotel and airfare coverage.
