About this file

This document is a Notice of Intended Decision to Enter into a Single Source Contract issued by the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC). The FDC intends to equip its Probation Officers with GLOCK handguns, night sights, and magazines, and require GLOCK Armorer courses to train officers to maintain and service the weapons. The justification for the single-source purchase is that the FDC's Probation Officers are currently trained to carry GLOCK handguns, and GLOCK Professional, Inc. is the only authorized provider of GLOCK training courses. Purchasing from a vendor other than GLOCK would require the discontinuance of previously purchased weapons and the retraining of Department personnel.

The contract is for a three-year term with an annual price of $2,000,000. The FDC currently employs GLOCK Armorer-certified staff to service the weapons carried by Probation Officers, and the single-source purchase is necessary to maintain the warranty and ensure proper training for FDC staff to handle the weapons.
