Questions for openFDA Support (3)

FDA-SOL-1159692

1) There is a concern that the small number of labor categories and rates can become a hindrance in the 5 year timeline of the IDIQ period of performance with the potential for changing needs and skillset levels. In order to provide best value, would the FDA consider additional labor category levels that allow for a range of Junior, Mid-level, and/or Senior Data Scientist, Data Engineers, and UX Designers and provide for a broader rate range and pricing flexibility?

The five (5) labor categories detailed in the RFP are the labor categories determined to be key at this time. The FDA is using these categories to help with the evaluation of the cost proposal for the IDIQ. If another category is determined to be needed in the future, the FDA will consider the addition of other labor categories at that time.

2) Within Task 1, on page 5, bullet “h” refers to an API key management plan, could we receive a copy of the current management plan? Who currently maintains the referred to plan?

Currently on openFDA, there is a key policy named “Key Rotation and Assignment Policy”. Via the new solicitation, we are requesting the creation of an API key management plan.

openFDA API keys can be requested via the openFDA web page:

If a higher usage limit is requested, the “contact us” link on the web page instructs users to send a request to the FDA program office.
