About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) addendum for Solicitation FA9401-25-Q-0067 for Timing Receivers at Kirtland Air Force Base, dated 21AUG2025. The solicitation details specific technical requirements for timing receivers, including 6 card slots per receiver and a total of 180 outputs across different card types: 48 1PPS outputs (12 total cards), 36 10MHz outputs (12 total cards), 48 IRIG outputs (12 total cards), and 48 Have Quick outputs (12 total cards). The customer is a US military unit authorized to receive M-code receivers and requires both M-code and Multi-GNSS capability with two GPS/oscillator modules, preferably with the same type of oscillator (such as Rubidium).

Key additional details include a 5-year warranty covering the entire system, confirmation that 10MHz outputs do not require low phase noise, and the requirement for multiple output types (TTL Coax and Coax) across different signal cards. The solicitation emphasizes the need for extra/spare cards to accommodate different scenarios and backup requirements. The timing receivers are intended for a US military unit at Kirtland AFB, with specific technical specifications around GPS modules, oscillator types, and comprehensive output capabilities.

SOLICIATION FA9401-25-Q-0067

TIMING RECEIVERS

KIRTLAND, AFB

21AUG2025

QUESTION AND ANSWER:

(1)

Q: “How many total card slots are required for each timing receiver?”

A: Each timing receiver should have at least 6 slots for option cards. The customer is requesting more cards than can fit a 6-slot receiver so that they will have extras/spares on hand for different scenarios/backup.

(2)

Q: “What is the total amount of 1PPS, IRIG, 10MHz, and HaveQuick outputs needed?”

A: The total number of outputs is 180. The number of outputs per card and type is listed in the Statement of Need and below.

1PPS Cards (Quantity: 2 Per Timing Receiver, 12 Total)

Each card must have at least 4 TTL Coax Outputs = 48 1PPS outputs

10MHz Cards (Quantity: 2 Per Timing Receiver, 12 Total)

Each card must have at least 3 Coax Outputs = 36 10MHz outputs

IRIG Cards (Quantity: 2 Per Timing Receiver, 12 Total)

Each card must have at least 4 Coax Outputs = 48 IRIG outputs

Have Quick Cards (Quantity: 2 Per Timing Receiver, 12 Total)

Each card must have at least 4 Coax Outputs = 48 Have Quick outputs

(3)

Q: “Is the end-user a US military unit at Kirtland AFB (i.e. authorized to receive and handle M-code?)”

A: The customer is a US military unit and can fill out all the necessary paperwork to get M-Code receivers.

(4)

Q: “The requirement asks for both M-code and Multi-GNSS capability in the same system. This will require two GPS/oscillator modules (these come in the same module). For the secondary module, would the customer want the same type of oscillator as in the primary module (ex: 1 M-code GPS w/Rubidium and # 2 Multi-GNSS w/Rubidium)? We can also mix Rb and quartz modules

A: The customer will take it with the same type of module for both receivers.

(5)

Q: “Would the 5-year warranty cover the entire system? For example, some companies offer a 5-year warranty but limit the warranty to 2 years for the oscillator and power supply.

A: Yes, the 5-year warranty should cover the entire system.

(Continued on next page…)

(6)

Q: “Does the 10MHz output require low phase noise output?”

A: No, the 10Mhz output does not require a low phase noise output.
