About this file
This is an Industry Day announcement for thermal metrology and optical diagnostic cameras hosted by the Department of War in support of the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) mission. The event is scheduled for Thursday, October 22, 2026, and will be held in-person at the Gossick Leadership Center Facility. The Government is seeking innovative diagnostic and imaging solutions to measure and monitor extreme temperature systems to expand aerospace component testing throughput.
The Government is soliciting capabilities from manufacturers and system integrators of advanced optical sensors, including Infrared (IR) cameras, High-Speed and Visible-light cameras, Pyrometers, Hyperspectral imagers, and Spectrometers. Required capabilities include continuous thermal profiling across extreme temperature regimes, real-time analysis and flow visualization for debris/particle tracking during testing, and non-intrusive gas-phase and material diagnostics under aerothermal environments. Registration requires an active System for Award Management (SAM) profile and must be submitted by 1 p.m. Central Time on Thursday, October 15, 2026, to leslie.mcgowan@us.af.mil and zachary.dickson.2@us.af.mil. Interested parties are encouraged to submit a Capability Statement (maximum 5 pages) in PDF format by October 15, 2026. The announcement clarifies that this is not an invitation for bid or request for proposal; any procurement action will be the subject of a separate future announcement. Virtual attendance is not authorized, foreign participation is not permitted, and the Government will not reimburse costs associated with participation.

Industry Day for
Thermal Metrology & Optical Diagnostic Cameras
On Thursday, October 22, 2026
ANNOUNCEMENT: The Department of War (DoW), in support of the Arnold Engineering
Development Complex (AEDC) mission, is seeking innovative, intrusive and non-intrusive diagnostic and imaging solutions to measure and monitor extreme temperature systems.
OBJECTIVE: To dramatically expand aerospace component testing throughput, AEDC requires the comprehensive integration of cutting-edge thermal metrology. The Government is evaluating the feasibility, lifecycle costs, and conceptual integration layouts of these advanced sensor suites to make highly informed, long-term acquisition and deployment decisions.
BACKGROUND: We are soliciting capabilities from leading manufacturers of advanced optical sensors—specifically Infrared (IR), High-Speed, and Visible-light cameras, alongside Pyrometers, Hyperspectral imagers, and Spectrometers. The primary objective is to deploy real-time analysis, thermal profiling, and debris tracking capabilities across both high- and low-temperature regimes.
REQUESTED CAPABILITIES: The Government is soliciting capabilities and technical insights from leading manufacturers and system integrators of advanced optical sensors. Focus areas include:
Sensor Technology Mission Application
Infrared (IR) & Pyrometers Continuous thermal profiling across extreme high-and low- temperature regimes
High-Speed & Visible Cameras Real-time analysis, flow visualization, and debris/particle tracking during active testing
Hyperspectral & Spectrometers Non-intrusive gas-phase and material diagnostics under active aerothermal environments.
TENTATIVE EVENT AGENDA:
0800-0830 Registration & Badge Pickup
0830-0915 Welcome & AEDC Mission Briefing
0915-1000 Technical Requirements Overview
1000-1030 Q&A Session (Open Forum)
1030-1100 Structured Networking & Conceptual Layout Discussions (20 minute ONE-ON-
ONE SESSIONS)
1100-1230 Lunch
1230-1500 ONE-ON-ONE SESSIONS (continued)
SITE: The event will be held in-person at a location at the Gossick Leadership Center (GLC) Facility.
The address and access requirements will be provided to registered participants. Virtual attendance is not authorized, and photography and video are prohibited. Foreign participation is not permitted.
REGISTRATION: To register for this event, your company must have an active profile in the System for
Award Management (SAM). If you are interested in participating in the subject Industry Day, please email Leslie McGowan at leslie.mcgowan@us.af.mil and Zachary Dickson at zachary.dickson.2@us.af.mil with the subject line, “AEDC Industry Day Registration-[Company Name] no later than 1 p.m. Central Time on Thursday, October 15, 2026. Please provide Participant Name(s), Title, Company Name, CAGE Code, contact information for each attendee (i.e. email address and phone number), and confirmation of US Citizenship.
POCs:
Leslie R. McGowan, Contracting Officer, leslie.mcgowan@us.af.mil (931) 454-4425
Zachary Dickson, Contracting Specialist, zachary.dickson.2@us.af.mil (931) 454-3336
SUBMISSION OF CAPABILITY STATEMENTS: Interested parties are highly encouraged to submit a Capability Statement (maximum of 5 pages) addressing their commercial capabilities, existing sensor lines, and high-level integration concepts.
• Submission Deadline: October 15, 2026
• Submission Format: PDF format submitted via email
DISCLOSURE: This announcement does not constitute an invitation for bid or request for proposal. Any procurement action for this effort will be the subject of a separate, future announcement. The
Government is not under obligation to award any related contract associated with this event. The
Government will not reimburse contractors for costs associated with preparing or submitting a response to this notice or participating in the Industry Day.
