Four Inch Piping Upgrade to Support Rain-field testing at the Holloman High Speed Test Track
Requirements Document
For
704th Test Group/846th Test Squadron
11 September 2023
1.0 PURPOSE
The 704th Test Group (704 TG) mission is to be the premier provider of unique test and evaluation capabilities relevant to tomorrow’s warfighter through world-class people improving technical excellence, cost-effectiveness, and agility. The 846th Test Squadron (846 TS) is assigned to the 704 TG. The 846 TS operates the Holloman High Speed Test Track (HHSTT) and conducts various types of rocket sled testing.
The 846 TS is responding to the national need for weather effects testing utilizing ground based rocket sleds. Upcoming sled test projects require utilization of an already developed rain-field. Current rain-field 4 inch diameter piping has been identified as not sufficiently thick enough to not deform with the current design. Upgraded piping, with increased thickness, is to ensure this issue is resolved and the rain-field can remain operational. The thickness required to not deform has been identified. This document presents the requirements for the new four inch diameter piping.
2.0 SCOPE
The Contactor shall deliver piping that meets the following requirements:
2.1 Four inch outside diameter aluminum irrigation tubing
2.2 0.072 inch minimum pipe wall thickness
2.3 40 foot long segments
2.4 310 segments
The Contractor shall conduct the labor described as follows. All labor conducted at the 846TS shall be conducted by personnel that can be approved for base access. This requires the ability to pass a criminal background check and other security requirements. The labor must also meet the following requirements:
2.5 The 300 segments of tubing shall be cut and holes drilled according the drawing attached to this document. When referencing the QTY values in the drawing, the drawing depicts how 20 segments shall be cut and drilled. The QTY values multiplied by 15 are the total number of time different segments will be reproduced. This will leave 10 segments uncut and drilled to be delivered to the 846TS in addition to the 300 cut and drilled segments. Should any segments be improperly cut or drilled, the contractor shall acquire, recut and redrill additional segments to replace the improperly produced segments.
2.6 The tubing shall be installed and oriented in the rain-field, replacing the existing piping as currently installed.
2.7 The existing tubing shall be disposed of by the Contractor.
2.8 All existing associated hardware consisting of mounting brackets, saddle clamps, tube couplings, end caps, plugs and T’s etc. shall be reused on the new tubing.
3.0 MILESTONES
The contractor shall deliver and install between the dates of November 1, 2023 and no later than March 1, 2024 to ensure no sled test project’s schedule slip occurs. Coordination is required with the 846TS to determine time and dates that labor can be completed on site within these dates.
4.0 DELIVERABLES
The contractor shall deliver all hardware and documentation to 846 TS, Attn: 2Lt. Linda Goodson at 1521 Test Track Rd, Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico.
