About this file
This document contains questions and answers regarding solicitation number FA9101-23-Q-0030 from the Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Test Center for replacing piping at Rainfield. The existing piping will be reused where possible, with repairs or replacements as needed to the supports. The solicitation requires replacing existing 0.050 inch thick piping with thicker 0.072 inch or greater piping. The questions confirm the double rolled ends on the piping diagram are for strength and not welding, and that no particular grade of aluminum or additional means of connection are required beyond the existing connectors.

Questions and Answers for FA9101-23-Q-0030 – Rainfield Piping
1. Will we be reusing the existing saddles, couplings, valves, fittings, supports and risers?
Answer: Yes, some of the supports may need repair or replacement but are not within the scope of the contract. All of the other pieces and parts should be reusable.
2. On the piping diagram it calls for a double rolled end pipe. This is for welding the pipe together. Are we welding the pipe?
Answer: None of the pipes are welded together. The double rolled end is there to strengthen the ends.
3. On the piping diagram is state pipe thickness of .050 pipe thickness. On the SOW it calls for .075 thickness. What thickness do we use.
Answer: The .050 thickness is the thickness of the existing pipes and the reason for this contract is to replace them with thicker, stronger .072 inch or greater pipes.
4. Will .072 thickness work?
Answer: Yes. Requirement document revised to reflect this change.
5. Do we need to provide an extruded pipe at a greater thickness?
Answer: No
6. What grade Aluminum do we need to use?
Answer: No particular grade is required.
7. Will we need to provide means of connecting? If so what kind of connections would be preferred?
Answer: The existing connectors are all that is required.
