MEMORANDUM FOR WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
SUBJECT: FA9101-20-Q-2017, CNC Foam Router, Questions and Answers
1. There is a requirement for a 20' x 20' x 20' envelope for the machine. The frame of machine X fits into this envelope although the control would be outside of that area. Is this acceptable?
Yes, that is acceptable. The facility where this will be located has adequate space.
2. Does the Government have a preference for an open or enclosed format CNC, with regards to Dust collection/containment and safety?
An open format would be best.
3. How do the Government intend to load and unload the foam material to be machined?
We currently load blocks of foam by hand; in the future, we will use a forklift to move these blocks.
4. Do you have an operational specification for the height of the work surface as it relates to ergonomics and/or the Government’s response to question #3.
No more than 2 feet hight. Heights above that get cumbersome in moving the blocks.
5. What is the maximum length of tool being used for milling operations?
The Government has not identified a specific tool or part to cut with. This will depend on the capability of the machine to meet the specification identified in the
Requirements Document.
6. Does the Government require Dust Collection to be provided or is there an existing Dust collection system in place?
If a system includes a dust collector, it will be accepted. However, a dust collection system is not required.
7. Do you want to cut verification parts at the sellers factory or at the on-site customer location?
Verification cut shall be at the Government site after the vendor installs the system.
8. Is there a budget requirement/constraint for this purchase?
The Government has conducted an idependent price review of systems that will meet requirements. However, that information is not releaseable.
9. Is shipping required to be included on the proposal for the machine?
The vendor is responsible for the item until Government acceptance on-site.
Shipping terms are FOB Destination
Vendors do not have to specifically identify shipping as a separate cost, but the vendor is responsible for getting the item to and installed at the site.
