1. In order for our company to accurately quote our bid it is necessary for us to know the “system serial number” of the Nortel MSL-100 telephone system and possibly another serial number at the remote (bombing range) site. The reason for this request is to enable our company to determine what our cost will be to pay for “Avaya –

Nortel factory support”. This added support is called “Partner Assured Software

Support” (PASS) and is required in the event we need factory high level engineering assistance, software updates, or software bug fixes during the course of day to day system maintenance.

Answer: The Nortel MSL-100 is listed in PWS Appendix 5.2.3, Government

Furnished Equipment/Contractor Furnished Maintenance. For Equipment listed in

PWS Appendix 5.2.3, the Government is responsible to provide replacement parts.

Buried Fiber Cable on Attachment 1 of the Pricing Table. Please identify the correct location of these items.

Answer: PID’s 3546, 3542, 3544 are valid for both locations, the splicing is the same, but the work locations will be different. If a direct buried splice is required the work order should reflect a PID item for excavation. PID 3537 is for 2 strand fiber optic cable, which is only used for inside plant.
