About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document for federal contract opportunity VCC Guard Booth (FA875126Q0902).

The document addresses five key technical clarifications regarding booth specifications. The Government confirmed that the 8 feet 6 inches maximum exterior height is not absolute and can be exceeded to meet insulation requirements. Rooftop HVAC units are excluded from height measurements, with dimensional tolerances applying to the booth structure only. The Government indicated willingness to review alternate roof assemblies that achieve R-42 insulation values while remaining within dimensional limits, though this determination would require case-by-case evaluation. The R-42 roof insulation requirement was identified as a user request rather than a mandatory specification, clarifying that both requirements need not be simultaneously achieved through standard construction. Regarding HVAC placement, while the Government expressed openness to wall-mounted systems if necessary to satisfy height and insulation requirements, roof-mounted HVAC systems are the preferred configuration.

Questions and Answers #2

1. Is 8 feet 6 inches the absolute maximum overall exterior height?

Answer: No, can go higher to meet insulation.

2. Is the rooftop HVAC unit included when measuring overall height, or does the dimensional tolerance apply to the booth structure only?

Answer: This would be structure only, not a very hard requirement to adhere to as no surrounding roof close to structure.

3. Would the Government consider an alternate roof assembly that demonstrates an effective R-42 insulation value while remaining within the dimensional limit?

Answer: Depending on what it looks like, would have to review.

4. If the requirements cannot be achieved together using standard construction, which requirement controls: maximum height or R-42 roof insulation?

Answer: This was a request from the user, not mandatory submit options.

5. Would a wall-mounted HVAC system be acceptable if it allows the booth to satisfy the height and insulation requirements?

Answer: Not opposed to it 100% but would rather have a roof-mounted.
