STATEMENT OF WORK

1.01 SCOPE

A. The work covered under this contract consists of furnishing all labor, equipment, devices, materials, and performing all work required for the installation of a propane fired unit heater in Building 1624 at the Newport Test Site.

1.02 LOCATION

A. The work area is located in the Building 1624 Irish Hill of Newport Test Site, Rome, New York.

1.03 PRINCIPAL FEATURES

1. Provide and install gas unit heater according to gas unit heater schedule in location shown on contract drawing. Propane unit heater and all other installed equipment and products shall be selected to meet contract specifications and installed according to manufacturer’s recommendations.

2. Install fuel gas piping as shown on drawing. Piping shall be sized and installed according to IFGC standards. Provide shutoff valve at branch takeoff. Install all equipment, fuel gas piping, combustion air and venting in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations, ICC, IFGC, NFPA 54 & 70. Refer to contract specifications for specific installation details.

3. Provide and install electrical power and temperature control service necessary for proper operation of unit heater.

4. Test unit to verify correct operation.

1.04 GENERAL NOTES

A. The locations of all items shown on the drawings that are not definitely fixed by dimensions are approximate only. The exact locations necessary to secure the best conditions and results must be determined by the project site conditions and shall have the approval of the construction inspector before being installed.

B. Contract document drawings for mechanical work are diagrammatic only and are intended to convey scope and general arrangement only. It is the contractor’s responsibility to verify existing field conditions prior to construction.

NOTES

1. PROVIDE AND INSTALL PROPANE UNIT HEATER ACCORDING TO GAS UNIT HEATER SCHEDULE. PROPANE UNIT HEATER

AND ALL OTHER INSTALLED EQUIPMENT AND PRODUCTS SHALL BE SELECTED TO MEET CONTRACT SPECIFICATIONS.

2. INSTALL FUEL GAS PIPING AS SHOWN ON DRAWING. PIPING SHALL BE SIZED AND INSTALLED ACCORDING TO IFGC

STANDARDS. PROVIDE SHUTOFF VALVE AT BRANCH TAKEOFF.

3. PROVIDE AND INSTALL ELECTRICAL POWER AND TEMPERATURE CONTROL SERVICE NECESSARY FOR PROPER

OPERATION OF UNIT HEATER.

4. PROVIDE AND INSTALL NECESSARY COMBUSTION AIR AND VENTING FOR GAS FIRED UNIT HEATER.

5. PROVIDE SHUTOFF VALVE IN PROPANE LINE AND ELECTRICAL DISCONNECT, OR ACCEPTABLE METHOD DISCONNECT, AT UNIT HEATER FOR ISOLATION AND SERVICING.

6. INSTALL ALL EQUIPMENT, FUEL GAS PIPING, COMBUSTION AIR AND VENTING IN ACCORDANCE WITH MANUFACTURER'S

RECOMMENDATIONS, ICC, IFGC, NFPA 54 & 70.. REFER TO CONTRACT SPECIFICATIONS FOR SPECIFIC INSTALLATION

DETAILS.

7. TEST UNIT TO VERIFY CORRECT OPERATION.

B. CONTRACT DOCUMENT DRAWINGS ARE DIAGRAMMATIC ONLY AND ARE INTENDED TO CONVEY SCOPE AND GENERAL ARRANGEMENT

ONLY.

C. INSTALL ALL MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT AND APPURTENANCES IN ACCORDANCE WITH MANUFACTURERS RECOMMENDATIONS, CONTRACT

DOCUMENTS, AND APPLICABLE CODES AND REGULATIONS.

D. THE LOCATIONS OF ALL ITEMS SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS OR CALLED FOR IN THE SPECIFICATIONS THAT ARE NOT DEFINITELY FIXED BY

DIMENSIONS ARE APPROXIMATE ONLY. THE EXACT LOCATIONS NECESSARY TO SECURE THE BEST CONDITIONS AND RESULTS MUST BE

DETERMINED BY THE PROJECT SITE CONDITIONS AND SHALL HAVE THE APPROVAL OF THE ENGINEER BEFORE BEING INSTALLED.

E. PROVIDE VIBRATION ISOLATION FOR ALL MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT TO PREVENT TRANSMISSION OF VIBRATION TO BUILDING STRUCTURE.

F. PROVIDE VIBRATION ISOLATORS FOR ALL PIPING SUPPORTS CONNECTED TO, AND WITHIN 50 FT. OF ISOLATED EQUIPMENT (EXCEPT AT

BASE ELBOW SUPPORTS AND ANCHOR POINTS) THROUGHOUT MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT ROOMS. DO THE SAME FOR SUPPORTS OF

STEAM MAINS WITHIN 50 FT. OF BOILER OR PRESSURE-REDUCING VALVES.

G. MAINTAIN A MINIMUM 6'8” CLEARANCE TO THE UNDERSIDE OF PIPES, DUCTS, CONDUITS, SUSPENDED EQUIPMENT, ETC… THROUGHOUT

ACCESS ROUTES IN MECHANICAL ROOMS.

H. ALL TESTS SHALL BE COMPLETED BEFORE ANY MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT OR PIPING INSULATION IS APPLIED

I. LOCATE ALL TEMPERATURE, PRESSURE, AND FLOW MEASURING DEVICES IN ACCESSIBLE LOCATIONS WITH THE STRAIGHT SECTION OF

PIPE OR DUCT UP AND DOWNSTREAM AS RECOMMENDED BY THE MANUFACTURER FOR GOOD ACCURACY.

J. LOCATE ALL MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT FOR UNOBSTRUCTED ACCESS TO UNIT ACCESS PANELS, CONTROLS, AND VALVING.

K. WHERE TWO OR MORE ITEMS OF THE SAME TYPE OF EQUIPMENT ARE REQUIRED, THE PRODUCT OF ONE MANUFACTURER SHALL BE

USED.

L. COORDINATE ALL EQUIPMENT CONNECTIONS WITH MANUFACTURER'S CERTIFIED DRAWINGS. COORDINATE AND PROVIDE ALL DUCT AND

PIPING TRANSITIONS REQUIRED FOR FINAL EQUIPMENT CONNECTIONS TO FURNISHED EQUIPMENT. FIELD VERIFY AND COORDINATE ALL

DUCT AND PIPING DIMENSIONS BEFORE FABRICATIONS.

M. ALL CONTROL WIRE AND CONDUIT SHALL COMPLY WITH NATIONAL ELECTRIC CODE AND DIVISION 16 OF THE SPECIFICATION.

N. THE LOCATIONS OF ALL ITEMS SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS OR CALLED FOR IN THE SPECIFICATIONS THAT ARE NOT DEFINITELY FIXED BY

DIMENSIONS ARE APPROXIMATE ONLY. THE EXACT LOCATIONS NECESSARY TO SECURE THE BEST CONDITIONS AND RESULTS MUST BE
