Question 2
1. RFP drawings required that the fire alarm and mass notification system are to be provided with two (2) independent wiring systems. It is the intent to provide a separate circuit for visual devices as well as audio devices or visual devices only. Attached, we are providing our interpretation of the contract.
Question: Can you please confirm that our interpretation of the contract is correct?
2. Per RFP 16721 (page 26) sections 3.03.B.1.d and 3.03.B.1.e, requires that junction boxes associated with the fire alarm system is painted “red” and junction boxes associated with the mass notification system is painted “yellow”.
Question: Can all wires serving both systems be located in the same conduit/cable tray? What is the requirement of identifying the junction boxes when the conduit serves the fire alarm/mass notification systems speakers?
Answer 2
1. Two notification appliance circuit power extenders complete with their own separate class A wiring systems are required. The notification appliance circuits serve the visual notification devices.
2. All wiring shall comply with NFPA 72. Junction boxes which serve fire alarm/mass notification shall be identified by a distinctive paint scheme (determined by AFRL) or through the use of permanent labels stating “Fire Alarm/Mass Notification”.
Question 3 Graphical work station is explained in spec, Incidental work station is not, but shown on riser drawing. Is the incidental work station for only viewing alarm, troubles, supervisory, etc. of the fire alarm mass network system, like a fire alarm remote annuciator or is it a actual workstation without control.
Answer 3 Refer to specification section 16722 for information pertaining to the incident management system.
