1) Mentioned during the walk through, but not further discussed in the conference room is that we will need it clarified by addenda that an additional strobe (at each Fire Alarm Strobe location), booster(s) and circuit are required to meet requirements for Mass Notification. Only one one strobe and strobe circuit set and is shown on plane. MNS requires an additional strobe ‘Alert’ device to be provided to flash while mass notification announcements are being made to the occupants.
2) What is the functionality of the ‘Autonomous Control Unit‘ at the guard shack? There is an LOC there to make announcements to the building systems at the main facility… I need to know more of the desired operation at the guard shack location.
3) Where is the DACT in the remote site(s) supposed to call? It does not indicate them to be supplied ‘for future’ in these locations.
4) Is it the intent for a partial evacuation system? The strobe boosters will need to be synchronized if this is supposed to be general alarm.
5) Is it the intent for the speakers circuits to be Class B as shown on riser(s)?
6) Is the lack of a DIACAP approved LAN transmission as the carrier to the remote sites an issue? It is not mentioned in the specs as a requirement.

1) All audio/visual devices associated with the fire alarm and mass notification system are shown on the floor plans and riser diagrams. The boxed in note on the riser diagrams states “for clarity purposes one notification appliance circuit power extender and associated wiring is shown on the riser diagram. Two units are required, one for the mass notification system and one for the fire alarm devices. Each unit shall be complete with its own separate class A wiring system.” Two independent wiring systems are required, one for the fire alarm devices and one for the mass notification devices.
2) The guard shack does not have an autonomous control unit; it has a LOC as shown on the documents. The autonomous control unit communicator shown on sheet 1 is not required and will be removed by addendum.
3) The DACT at the remote sites call a fire alarm monitoring service as indicated on sheet 1. The DACT’s are provided as part of the contract per spec section 16721.
4) No. The riser diagrams shows a booster trip module designated as a CS, this is a synchronization output module and can be found under Section 16721, Combination Mass Notification/Emergency Communication and Addressable Fire Alarm and Detection System, Part 2-Products, 2.02 Description, I. Control Devices, 1. Addressable output.
5) The speaker circuit (notification appliance circuit) should be class A as noted in Section 16721, Combination Mass Notification/Emergency Communication and Addressable Fire Alarm and Detection System.
6) The transmission lines associated with the combination mass notification/emergency communication and addressable fire alarm and detection system are independent of the Air Force Network so the DIACAP Department of Defense Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process is not applicable for this project.
