About this file
This document contains a question and answer regarding a brand name requirement for swift water rescue personal flotation devices. The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Lifecycle Management Center is seeking two PFDs that are overtly red or fluorescent green in color to provide rescuer visibility. An alternate product was proposed but does not satisfy the color requirements and is therefore not a suitable substitute. No other details are provided on specifications, pricing, response dates or other procurement terms.

SWR Q&A
Q1: We have one alternate to propose if the government would like to consider an alternate to the Personal Flotation Device (PFD).
If color is flexible, the MRV15002 was developed for the same use case as referenced in the RFI. Please see the attached datasheet.
NOTE: the primary customer for this product are state/local governments, therefore, the MRV150 is NOT TAA or Berry Compliant.
A1: The two PFDs include salient characteristics of, “Overt red in color to provide visibility of rescuer” and “Overt Florescent Green in color.” MRV15002 does not satisfy either requirement; therefore, it is not determined to be a suitable substitute.
