Travis AFB, California Questions/Answers 30 June 2022
1. What information will be required on the IUID labels? Research appears they are the same as standard nameplates – possible bar coding? But no idea what would be wanted that way without advance instruction.
Reference Attachment “FA8604-22-R-B006 Travis RFP questions 15 Jun 22.docx”:
“RE: “Para 3.3.7 Data Plates – data plates are required under this paragraph but the contract itself also lists DFARS 252.211-7003 for IUIV labels for anything over $5,000. Are both required or is one or the other sufficient?
Answer: Both Name Plates (3.3.7) and IUID labels (DFARS) are required for this contract.”
Answer: While both types of nameplate content are required, two individual nameplates will not be required. Instead just one nameplate that contains content from both requirements will be acceptable.
3.3.7. NAMEPLATES
The Contractor shall provide and install one corrosion resistant nameplate for each component. A nameplate for each row of shelving/rack shall be provided such that if one row is dismantled, the nameplates will exist elsewhere. For conveyors, a nameplate shall be provided for each kind of conveyor in the system (i.e. takeaway, gravity, curves, incline/decline, etc.). Nameplates shall be located in a visible and safe location.
Nameplates shall last the life of the equipment and shall be capable of withstanding local environmental conditions. Nameplates shall be stamped, engraved, embossed, or etched in a print type not less than 1/8-inch tall. No nameplate or product marking shall be installed until all touch-up painting has been completed. The nameplate or product marking shall clearly display the following headings and corresponding information.
Type of equipment:
Contract Number:
Model Number:
Point of Contact:
Telephone Number:
Manufacturer Web Site:
Capacity:
Manufacture Date, Month/Year:
"Property of US Government"
In addition to the contract specified nameplate requirements above, the IUID portion (DFARS) shall contain:
"Property of US Government" (if two nameplates are used) Cage Code: (Both Print and Barcode) Part Number: (Both Print and Barcode) Serial Number: (Both Print and Barcode)
2. Regarding manufacturing – Cover PD – Para 3.1.5 – This calls for a continuous smooth metal top 1 ¾” thick with rounded edges. I have found rounded edges but only in wood or plastic, not metal. Would ground down corners on a painted metal top or a stainless steel top without rounded edges be acceptable?
Answer: A Stainless Steel top without rounded edges is acceptable, but must not have any sharp edges.
3. The drawing calls out for a back panel for the issuing stations, but the specs do not list it. Is it required?
Answer: “A back panel is required for each issuing stations.” Paragraph 3.1.5 will be modified in the Cover PD as REV 2.
