Lackland FA860421RB009 RFP Questions and Answers as of 5/4/2021

Rack Supported Mezzanine:

1. 7’ top of deck height and 6’9” clear underneath as specified in Appendix A

CONCERN: IBC standards require AT LEAST 7’ of clearance below the clear height, and above the top of deck for means of egress.

PROPOSED SOLUTION: Height to top of deck should be changed to 9’ or 10’ to allow room for sprinkler system and lighting and still adhere to IBC standards. This is what is regularly seen in industry.

Answer: The Purchase Description has been revised to provide 7’ clear height underneath and a deck height of 7’-6”. The clear height in the facility is approximately 14’ – not ideal. It is not expected that the upper level will need to be accessed by personnel (planned to be used for storage only) but egress is planned in the rare event they do need to go up there.

2. The staircase w/ landing are shown to fit within a small footprint

CONCERN: To reach the 7’ top of deck, the stairs (not including the landing) would need to have a horizontal span of about 10’6”

PROPOSED SOLUTION: Staircase will require an intermediate landing, along with a landing at the top of the steps, to not protrude into the aisle way Answer: OSHA requires the platform to be a minimum 30 inches in the direction of travel – I have revised the specification to match this. With a riser height of approximately 9” and a tread length of approximately 9.5” the stairs and platform should fit in the space as shown with minimal overhang into the aisle.

3. In building 220, the partition under the rack supported mezzanine is called out as 7’ tall. The clearance under the mezzanine is called out as 6’9”. This would not be able to fit under the mezzanine.

CONCERN: Wire partition will not fit underneath mezzanine

PROPOSED SOLUTION: Raise the height of the mezzanine, if possible Answer: As mentioned above, the clear height underneath has been raised to 7’ – the partition height will remain at 7’ as it is supposed to securely enclose the spaces.

4. Also, what is the ceiling clear height in building 220?

Answer: Approximately 14’ to the trusses.

Lackland FA860421RB009 RFP Questions and Answers as of 4/21/2021

1. The Cover Purchase Description, Paragraph 3.1.6.3 Power Outlets calls for fourteen (14) power outlets to be "provided in each secure space". Is that correct?

The Cover Purchase Description has been revised to clarify this – please see the revised document.

2. Could you provide the required dimensions and capacity for the “ADDITIONAL UPRIGHT SUPPORTS FOR RACK SUPPORTED MEZZANINE” shown on ALC009-01? They appear to be a different size from the Type “A” uprights.

The additional upright supports for the rack supported mezzanine shall be sized to support the mezzanine decking/catwalk capacity of the system as specified in Paragraph 3.2.1.4. of Appendix A. Specific dimensions will not be provided.

3. Could you please provide a side and front view of Pallet Rack Type “D” from drawing ALC009- 02?

The file uploaded was missing this rack detail drawing and the border. The correct file has been provided as AF Drawing ALC009-02 (REV A).
