About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for federal contract FA857126Q0064 concerning the procurement of a Tractor Aircraft Tug (ACFT) TWG U-30 model TMX-450-50.
The document addresses operator and maintenance training requirements, specifying that the contractor shall provide training for 10 operators to achieve full operational capability within 3 days of delivery, and training for 4 maintenance mechanics to achieve full service and inspection capability within the same 3-day timeframe. The document clarifies a critical deviation from the original Configuration Item Description (CID) tied to NSN 1740-01-689-5471YW: the TMX-450-50 does not fully comply with air transportability requirements, which only the TMX-550 configuration fully meets. However, Vehicle Support has authorized the TMX-450-50 as the desired solution and approved this deviation, with the stipulation that air transportability capability must be added to the selected model. The TMX-450-50 does meet requirements for drawbar pull and vehicle weight. The document requests confirmation from the contracting team acknowledging awareness of and acceptance of this CID deviation, to which the response is "Concur."

FA857126Q0064 – Trac ACFT TWG U-30 – TMX-450-50 - Questions and Answers
Please provide expectations for operator training. Simpler and shorter duration training can be conducted at less cost.
Per PD:
– the Contractor shall provide training for 10 operators on the use of the Tractor Aircraft Tug once delivered. The expectation is for the operators to know how to fully operate the tug within 3 days after delivery.
- the Contractor shall provide training to 4 maintenance mechanics for periodic inspections and services. The expectation is for the mechanic to know how to fully service and inspect the tug within 3 days after delivery.
We need to highlight that the TMX-450 does not fully meet the U-30 CID requirements, specifically the air transportability criteria. The TMX-550 is the only configuration that fully complies with the CID tied to NSN 1740-01-689-5471YW
The TMX 450-50 has been authorized by Vehicle support. The TMX 450-50 will be required to have added the air transportability.
The TMX-450 does meet requirements for drawbar pull and vehicle weight but selecting it would mean accepting a deviation from the CID.
The request has been authorized by Vehicle support and approve the deviation to the
CID.
Can you please confirm that your team is aware of and accepts this deviation, and that the TMX-450 is the desired solution despite not meeting the full CID requirements?
