About this file
This is a technical requirements document detailing specifications for a C-17 Databus Recorder System (DBRS). The document outlines high-priority requirements including the ability to record data from at least 9 MIL-STD-1553 dual-channel buses, 8 ARINC 429 buses, and 2 EIA-422 buses simultaneously, with 100% data capture and synchronized time-stamping. The DBRS must use removable solid-state storage with 4TB or 1,000 flight hour capacity, operate on 28V DC power, and meet strict environmental specifications for temperature (-54 to +71C), pressure altitude, humidity, and shock resistance.
Key physical requirements specify that the DBRS must be a single Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) conforming to ARINC 404A ATR case dimensions with 12.62" length, weigh no more than 13 pounds, and mount to C-17 avionics racks. The system must incorporate cybersecurity features including data encryption, sanitization capabilities, and information segregation. Additional requirements cover electromagnetic compatibility (MIL-STD-461), environmental testing (MIL-STD-810), human factors (MIL-STD-1472H), and cooling specifications requiring no more than 8 lbm/min airflow. The system must have 40% spare processor memory, 30% spare processor throughput, and support future expandability for additional buses and wireless download capability.
