(3) Flow spray angle and weight flow rate shall be within limits of Table 3.
(4) Check and calculate spray angle concentricity.
a. Using protractor (Figure 2, 11) establish centerline of 90 degrees.
b. At 1 inch from nozzle tip (Figure 4, RAD Q), measure ANGLE R and ANGLE T.
c. Each angle measured from centerline shall compare within 3 degrees.
d. Fuel atomizer assembly is unacceptable if flow spray angle or weight flow rate is not within limits of
Table 3.
(5) Replace metering plate set (Figure 1, 5) or distributor head (4) if flow spray angle is not within limits of Table 3 or spray pattern is unacceptable and retest.
e. Perform 72 psig Spray Pattern Check.
(1) Apply 72 (±2) psig inlet fuel pressure.
(2) There shall be no fizzing or bubbling (Figure 3, Pattern D), solid jets of fuel (pattern F), or discontinuities (pattern
E) in the spray pattern.
(3) Flow spray angle and weight flow rate shall be within limits of Table 3.
(4) Check and calculate spray angle concentricity.
(a) Using protractor (Figure 2, 11) establish centerline of 90 degrees.
(b) At 1 inch from nozzle tip (Figure 4, RAD Q), measure ANGLE R and ANGLE T.
(c) Each angle measured from centerline shall compare within 3 degrees.
